do you have a style ?

this guy does
and
he was proud to rock it for me when I asked if I could take his photo
~~
I'm not sure what he does the rest of the year
but
I found him working as a summer kayak launcher on lake wingra a few weeks ago
and
he made me smile with all his proudness
~~
I don't think I have a style
do you
?
bootcut~sexy cut~super skinny~straight cut~flare
I'm happy in blue jeans
preferably in a washed denim as the dark denim always feels a little too stiff for me
and
this summer
I have worn cuffed blue jean capris almost every day
~~
okay
sometimes
a skirt and leggings
too
~only because I heard they're the "in" thing~
~~
sweaters~scoop neck~low cut~sweatshirts~long sleeves~layered t-shirts~tanks~v necks
I'm not really picky
but
I do love cotton
~~
hats
not so much
only my baseball cap on my "too busy to shower" days
but
scarves
oh I love scarves
~~
sunglasses
love them but my eyes are too "close set" to find many that fit my face
~~
flats~boots~heels~mules~flip flops~trekkers~tennis shoes
whatever
although I am addicted to my uggs and wear them all winter long
and
yes I know they make my feet look like pancakes
but hey
I live in wisconsin and that's just what we do
~~
purses~shopping bags~totes~backpacks~camera bags~computer bags
pretty much any kind or any size
anything with a handle
let's just say I'm addicted
~~
and
here's the problem
my closet is full of everything I just mentioned
and
when I'm dressed I think I look nice and sometimes maybe even a little "stylish"
and
my friends and family when we're shopping or I'm wearing something besides jeans
will say
"oh that's so you"
yet
I don't think I have "a style" or "a look"
that stands out from the crowd
~~
do you
?

  1. My style.. Hmm, I'm not sure if I really have one. I like my clothes to be comfortable, that's about it *lol*

  2. I love big chunky bangles and oversized pendants and big different rings, when I worked I had more style, but now its jeans and casual because of my lifestyle. i have an elderly friend whom is dressedd to the nines all the time, she asked me one day if my husband would like to see me in a dress. I told her good luck and that if he wanted a dress he could wear one. I thought she might have a stroke then and there...we did have a good laugh.Take care Beth.

  4. Since I'm not working I don't have a 'style' other than extreme comfort. I just wanted to say thanks since your posts always lift my mood. Even when you were in the painful migraine stage you still had time to bring comfort. Nice.

  5. I agree with Elena...your posts always make me happy or make me think or both. No style here. I'd say you have a certain personality style if you're willing to ask a strange, shirtless kayak launcher if you may take his picture:) Oh, I remember Lake Wingra from when we lived in Madison a hundred years ago. I luv cotton clothing....addicted to it.

  6. fun post...I love your style. as for mine...anything comfortable. never has to match, must be soft, hugs my hips, never my neck..I honestly hate to wear clothing, I am a Naturist, but law requires clothing when you run a Bed & Breakfast like mine!! My favorite vacations were seaside nudist resorts in St Marteen, oh to be so free. I am still stuck in my teenage Bohemian-Hippie-Chick style, if I must wear clothes!~ love, Deb,sitting naked on a yoga ball~giggle~

  9. Thanks for the thoughts on style. It is something I do think about from time to time. Sometimes I will try to put an outfit together that looks a bit trendy, but not really feel like it is after I put it on. Mostly I love nice tee shirts and jeans with some fun earrings. Occasionally I wear the leggings with a skirt and was just thinking I would like to wear more of them. Sometimes I wonder too if we dress according to who we are seeing that day, to create a special mood?

  11. This post works so well with what I am feeling as I get ready to go to Squam and present myself to a big group of strangers. I have always wanted a style that reflects my artist/seeker/wildchild/wantonwoman that lives on the inside on the outside. I haven't found it yet but there are little pieces poking out here and there. I guess I do have a style, but it sure isn't what the mags or designers or stylists would even put me in. The beauty of being 43, an artist and married to someone who sees all of my beauty everyday, is that I can wear whatever I damn well please most of the time. Kim Style...that works for me !

  12. No. I don't have style. I'm a gypsy. But, one day when I grow up, I will.

Because I will be Audrey Hepburn when I grow up.

  13. Style? Not so much, more like a "uniform"-- Dark jeans, white blouses and a pony tail. I need a make-over :-)

  14. Me, style? hmmm it's hard to say, I always like what everyone else is wearing but can't seem to get it right on myself! Love big jewelery though and shoes and bags. Cuffed jean capri's are a deffo must have but I'm short so have to be careful! neat post.

  15. I don't have a style either, but everything you mentioned is so me too! I love jeans, and cotton. And I have a pair of shoes that look like uggs but are really fur-lined clogs and I adore them all winter!

  16. I think my hair is stylish. Clothes? I dont know. I have a lot of clothes but wear shorts and tees most of the summer. I crave comfort. One thing you can say about my closet....it's colorful. OK, it's never 'stylish' or 'trendy', but's it's always "ME".

  17. Hmm, I think my style is built around comfort. I have vowed to not wear any pants that contain less than 2% spandex (or lycra). I tend to find a few things I really like then wear only them for an entire season. My season of down-filled jackets, wool and polar fleece is fast approaching.

  18. no special style. i mostly go for comfort: cotton, jeans or tanks with a shirt over them- that sort of thing. i found myself wearing my flip flops a bit more than usual this summer. oh! and, i have a toe ring. that would be the only thing that stands out on me, i guess. i recently colored my hair, if that counts. well, i could go on and on but i don't want to bore you. have a great day.

  19. Well, nothing like his, that's for sure. I like jewelry. BIG jewelry. Did you ever see Calendar Girls? (Great movie, by the way.) Anyway, Helen Mirren's style in that flick is one I completely love. Those necklaces!!

  23. I never thought of myself as having a style, yet I picked up the nickname Pixie (yup, hence my blogger profile) because of my "style" - kind of gypsy-ish and free-spirit. Though I don't always see it - I do love my 501s don't care if they're not the in-thing, but I always kind of change them up...

Does that answer the question? I don't think so, heehee...

    ;-)

    (((hugs))),
    love,
    me

  24. Style ? not so sure, but I am going to try to wear comfortable and sometimes frumpy with as much confidence as he showed!

  25. i am a little jealous of people who have a natural style. my daughter does. she puts on something and it morphs into her look. with no effort.

  26. I have two words that describe my style... plain Jane :o) Though I've been accused of being a little punk rock too. Probably because I mostly wear black. I very rarely wear anything patterned but I do love me some shoes. Those I have many of and will buy a pair in some random color I would never wear because "I can always wear them with black".

  27. Hi! Just a comment on your shoe style...I am there with you with my Rykas that feel like walking on air but are not always the most stylish shoes on the block. But the are a must-have with my feet and knee issues. Anyway- Opes blasted people who wear comfortable rather than stylish shoes on a show last year (What Not to Wear) and called them Schlumpadinka Shoes. Needless to say an e-mail was fired off to her immediately. Haven't heard from her yet- I will let you know when she shows up at my house with an unlimited lifetime supply of Schlumpadinka shoes as an apology.
