how I play...

when I'm really in a creative mood
or
stressed out
I can spend hours and hours
playing with photos
{not new news to most of you}
~~
yesterday I went to
"the pond"
{which has turned into a swamp}
where I was surrounded by grasses on a mission to touch the sky
and
purple flowers just stretching to be noticed
most of the small birds at the pond are red winged black birds
and
skittish
which causes most of my "bird" pictures to be blurry
or
without any subject at all
as I'm just not that quick
but
yesterday
this little unnamed feathered friend let me get right up on him
with a "come closer and get my good side" attitude
~~
so
I'm not sure if last night
I was stressed or creative
but here's what came of my evening while watching
"so you think you can dance"
~~
the top one is the final
the middle one is just some color playing
and
the last one is the original
which I love
but sometimes I just can't leave well enough alone

  1. What kind of soft ware do you used to get these different effects? I like the softness of the original and the mood created by the first ... the one with the fence.

  2. So very pretty even in it's drab brown, the brightness and life in its tiny eye, makes it beautiful.

  3. Oh my --- I want to come and play with you. I'll bring bubbles and a wand or two.

  4. I love all three, but I think my fav is the first one - photographer and painter's eye mixed maybe ?

And I love "So You Think You Can Dance" ! My favorite show of all the year ! Those kids and what they do with their bodies is so inspiring and a joy to watch. Some of them really do create works like a fine painting or the perfect photograph through their movement. Top 20 tonight !

  5. I love all 3. They all have a totally different mood. Don't we live in such a great time period? I mean, how cool is it that we get to create by taking photos, and then create even more photos from that one photo!
I love how you are processing these. I hope to learn more about that in the near future.

  7. I love the first one, I haven't seen editing where you can add a background like that...you'll have to share! But your original looks so much better than my edits..you're a great photographer!
I'm having great difficulty with macro...it just won't focus.

  12. Beth, this may be my favorite yet. I know I say that once a week, but I totally mean it this time! :)

  14. When I open up the original, it is so vivid and larger than life - touchable. The first one - looks like somehow it is indoors, posed against a window through which the outdoors is framed. Don't know if I am reading the image right. Fun! And lovely as well.

  15. Beth, I could just write, "Love you photos" everyday, because its true. As a guy new to photography, you mention you "play" with the photo. I take that to mean a photo software? Could you tell me what you use and what kind of camera you use? If you wouldn't mind.

  19. these are wonderful!

i actually like the middle one the best! but that third one turned out really really cool!

and quite frankly, the original shot is so good! even without all the playing. but i live that you played around with different things.

i need to do that more. i probably would if i had a faster computer and a better monitor—oh, and more time, too!
    :)

  28. How did you do that?? I would love to take some photoshop lessons from you. I would love to be able to do more interesting things with my images...then again, I would probably become a hermit and spend way way too much time infront of my computer!
    Beautiful photos!
