they say you forget about the pain.....

maybe that's the case with childbirth, but not kidney stones. yep, i've got two of them. stop laughing. i could go into juicy and personal details about my stones, but kidney stones are kidney stones and everyone has their own story and honestly, they're just stones. okay fine, i did pass out the other day and am beyond grateful that my hubby was there to save my life....snort....but seriously, he did. if he hadn't been there, i would have face planted into the granite counter top. see, i told you. he.saved.my.life. oh, and i guess in regards to kidney stones, my butter knife above feels more like a steak knife.
*
i'm loving this space and this place and this face {it's not really a face but i needed a rhyming word} for my current "inspiration boards." seriously people, i could look at photographs all day long and never tire of it.

remember a few posts ago when i talked about what i eat for breakfast? here's where i do most of my grocery shopping. want to have breakfast with me sometime? i'll bring the tea and the laughs if you want to bring the nutella. oh and bagels. really good bagels.
*
lately i feel like i know too many people who have given up on their relationships, are going through a divorce, are asking for help, are wondering "why us" or what do we do now or are occasionally hitting the same speed bumps i've traveled over in my own marriage and i thought maybe this post would offer some help. to those of you who have shared some personal emails with me lately, i'm thinking of you and hoping that things get back on track. in fact, i'm actually thinking of starting a private blog, by invitation only, where "those who enter" can share very personal stories that are not in a public forum, but instead are within the private and protected walls of a new home. where gentle arms, soft shoulders to cry on and listening ears of fellow bloggers will become the "girl tribe" you've been looking for. what do you think? send me a note if you're interested in becoming part of this tribe.

okay, that's enough for now. time for more water so the peeing can begin again.

  1. Been fortunately enough not to have to deal with kidney stones. Yuck!

I'll bring some really good bagels..... That sounds like fun :-) I like meeting girlfriends for breakfast and a chat.... Nice way way to start day; although the day and 1/2 drive might be a bummer :-)

Thanks for inviting all of us into your corner of the universe.... It is always a treat!

  4. Oh, you poor thing ! I hope this process goes quickly so the pain is over. My goodness.
You know I would love to be a part of anything that allows people to speak up, be loved through the challenges, and is safe from judgement or criticism. Plus any tribe you are a part of, is one where I would love to be.
Love to you and your poor bod, my friend. Drink, drink, drink !

Great shares here Beth. Even the share about your stones...ugh! I have never experienced that but have heard that it is almost to the point of beyond unbearable. May you pass them soon!!

And that photograph? Exquisite. The wood, the walnuts...the textures and the placement of the utensils. Deep and meaningful...a feast for the stomach, the mind and the spirit! xo

  8. Well, first of all -- stones? Not so good. I am fortunate not to have added those to my "list" but like others have heard much about the pain. Sending hugs and virtual tea and toast and prayers and wishes that yours are resolved soon.

I think your secondary blog sounds like a wonderful safe place. If you decide to do it, let me know.

Nice photo at the top of this, too!

  9. Wow, this is a loaded post.

    1. So sorry about the kidney stones. Feel better soon. I'd love to bring you a bag of (good) bagels to comfort you.

    2. I am addicted to photography too. I waste FAR too many hours just staring at photos. It's like a REPEAT button to a happy heart. (Love the photo in this post.)

    3. LOVE your spaces/places/faces. Oh.No. I see more goof-off time looming in my direction.

    4. How does one create a private blog?

  10. Beth, I have a friend who has recurring stones - an itty-bitty person who is very athletic. The stones bring her to her knees with pain. Keep guzzling the water. I hope your DR knows what is causing yours. My friend thinks hers came from an osteoporosis drug she was taking. Your photos always have such personality - they tell stories that I know in my heart.

As a fellow Kidney Stoner....DON'T DRINK TEA!! Unless, it's Red Tea. Then it's okay.

I would say a space for a private girl tribe could be very welcome - sometimes we all just need to share and be there for each other. I'd be interested.

  13. I can so relate to your kidney stone saga. I've six or so in each kidney...have undergone lithotripsy twice but they are located in areas not easily accessible to the laser so my nephrologist just follows me twice a year to see how they are progressing and to make sure my kidneys are not enlarging. So far, so good. I have to stay well hydrated ( I hate water ) or I get terrible pain.

I'll be India bound in just three weeks....will have to see my granddaughter's growth on Skype...home before Christmas.

  21. I've never had a kidney stone, but I would like to know how they compare with childbirth. Just saying... I've never quite understood how they could be worse (unless it's because kidney stone birthers don't get an epidural when the pain gets unbearable).

I think your private blog sounds like a good thing. You and your husband seem so precious together. I'm sure you have some great insights to help others.

  22. Hope that you are feeling better now- gosh YOU have been put through it! I have heard how painful they can be... yikes. That photo has me looking and looking again and seeing something new each time- well done!

And your photo is really beautiful.
