i continue to love the challenge of shooting at seventy miles per hour. yesterday we drove south with the kids and baby millie to visit our parents {their grandparents} which gave me two hours of playing "what can i shoot from a moving car?"
it was snowing off and on during our trip, which actually gave a softness to my "car" photos. do i love that? sure...but would i rather have green grass, blue skies and an out of control sun to deal with....you have no idea.
it's probably hard to tell in these photos, the rolling hills that surround us, but believe me they're there and they are beautiful. sometimes i forget just how wonderful they are...winter can do that to a person's brain.
the weatherman here i'm guessing is walking on eggshells. he mentioned "the high forties, maybe fifty" on the news last night, for what's to come the end of this week. i have a feeling people will be lining up to kick him the shins if he's wrong. i know what you're thinking...sheesh beth, that's not very nice. actually i'm thinking, i'll be first in line. snort.
yes, our cows here wear their hearts on their foreheads
The heart on the cow is awesome! Yesterday I was complaining that my favorite place for birding is getting too lush and green, making it hard to see the birds. Bet you'd like to kick me in the shins for saying that, huh? Your photos are wonderful, even without any color.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Beth...These are gorgeous photographs of the landscape and I especially love the barns and I love how you have captured the starkness and beauty of what winter has left us with still with all this snow. We have the same here in Maine but it's melting fast and everything will be green before you know it. Just like you... most of my photos are captured traveling in the car at 70 mph and I think it's amazing that any of them come out at all. Went for our Sunday drive yesterday too and enjoyed the sunshine and landscapes along the way. Thank you for sharing your photographs...they are all so beautiful and mesmerizing...I could definitely visualize a few of those on my living room walls.
ReplyDeleteLOL ... I did the same "drive-by shooting style" in Mystic on Saturday :-) Nice captures.
ReplyDeleteStark, cold, mesmerizing, mystical. All these really move me. The trees are just amazing and I love the misty look from the snow. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteBeth ~ These are absolutely beautiful (despite the fact that they're still wintertime images). But I love what you've captured from the comfort of your car.
ReplyDeleteThe long winters up where you live are more than some can cope with. This is best exemplified in a book that maybe I've told you about. It's called Wisconsin Death Trip. There is also a documentary on it that I have on my queue at Netflix. And I just finished a book called A Reliable Wife, which is loosely based it. Very interesting.
ps - it's snowing like crazy here. first significant snowfall we've had all winter. although it's spring. go figure!!
Beautifully captured even though spring has supposedly sprung.
ReplyDeleteHang on Spring will come and look how high your water table will be.... no droughts this year in some places....ebb and flow ebb and flow.... get the rhythm <3
ReplyDeleteThat cow made me smile :) I am done with this weather *sigh*. Ah well it will be 100 before we know it and crying for cooler temps. Well...maybe... Have a great week! xo
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. One great thing about winter is that when the leaves are off of the trees you get to see amazing form of the trunk and branches. You caught some really great trees!
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures! The fog is intriguing :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from the Netherlands,
DzjieDzjee
If you would make them some shirts then they could wear their hearts on their sleeves!! Snorts.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed you could take such great photos while driving. They're beautiful. I always get in trouble when I try to take pictures while in the car - my driver says the camera click is distracting. It's painful to go through miles of stunning scenery and not use my camera!
ReplyDeleteYou are a pro out the window! I love the challenge, too. It keeps me awake! These are beautiful but I know you're tired of the snow!
ReplyDeleteI know you guys up north are tired of the snow but I would like a little down here for more than just once and lasting for an hour. We have been having 60-70's one day then gusty and frigid the next. A little consistency would be nice Ms. Nature..... Thanks for the shots....
ReplyDeleteYour images are gorgeous, Beth. They just exude calm and tranquility. I think my heart rate slowed down while I was here.
ReplyDelete"lining up to kick him in the shins"...lol!! I hope he's right then!! And how you manage to create such beauty from a moving car...I'm more than impressed. I can only imagine how beautiful this drive is without all the snow and the bleak skies.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos. Even in the middle of winter we have Blue skies here in the desert. So I am loving all these snow shots..
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Wow, good for you Beth. I've tried this so many times on our car trips. I usually shot with the window down, even if it's 10 degrees! Unfortunately, my photos don't turn out real sharp, but you did a wonderful job of staying steady in a moving vehicle.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I'll be next in line! I forced myself to go running today, even though it was only 40. I just can't wait for spring any longer, I'm starting without her.
ReplyDeleteNice car photos! Laughing at kicking the weatherman. I am thinking the same thing here, but he is saying 70 degrees this weekend. I am hoping he is right. Cheer up the sunshine will come again.
ReplyDeletewell its clear you can shoot as well moving as you do standing still ... woot!
ReplyDeleteWell, I would have a group of blurs and swirls, so I think you did an excellent job of shooting while flying past. I love teh barns.
ReplyDeleteOh, that tree! 8th picture down.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent!
These are incredibly awesome! Wishing your snow away though. It's time! Happy Easter!
