sometimes i apologize when i've let days go by and i feel like i've neglected my blog, but not this time. i've finally realized and truly appreciate that when days go by and words escape me, that all it means is that i've been busy living.
i don't mean living in a big way or on a vacation kind of way, i simply mean in a content kind of way. my hubby was home with me for two solid weeks and it was wonderful. having him home with me, doing whatever we wanted to do, going wherever we waned to go, eating anything we wanted to eat and watching anything we wanted to watch was simply amazing and truly the best kind of gift.
speaking of watching whatever we wanted to watch...wow, did we ever "movie up" our time together. here's where i share with all of you, most of the movies we watched together and some movies that i watched alone {while he worked on a project just down the hall from me.}
now granted, it's a mixture of new movies that are in the theaters now, movies new to dvd and old movies on hbo or just regular cable, but they're all worth sharing.
pitch perfect and salmon fishing in the yemen and silver linings playbook were our favorites and absolutely WONDERFUL. then there was, in no particular order: committed, with heather graham, hanging up, arbitrage, peace, love and understanding, we bought a zoo, the art of getting by, hope springs, ruby sparks and promised land...a movie with room for lots of conversation afterwards.
we also watched sleepless in seattle, like for the hundredth time, friends with benefits, maybe for the fourth time {i love justin timberlake} and the family man, for the second time...which is just the warmest movie ever.
i know this was a movie overload post, so i apologize...but i really hope you have a chance to at least see our favorites. i don't think we'll steer you wrong, but i've learned with movie and book recommendations, it's always a crap shoot when it comes to opinions. so have fun and if you've seen some of these and want to let me know your thoughts, i'd love to hear them.
Sounds like you had fun. I'm totally going to use that phrase now, "movie up."
ReplyDeleteNo need to apologize for living, I do it all the time.
ReplyDeletewe watched Arbitrage .. i liked it .. love love love Sleepless ... and we also watched a lot of movies but then Toonman is a movie freak .. he watches everything .. he and NetFlix are besties
ReplyDeleteI have watched so many TV movies over and over again, especially when we have a string of rainy days. I think I have seen Pride and Prejudice at least 50 times!
ReplyDeleteliving looks good on you:)
ReplyDeletei like the way it feels
to let myself lax a little
in my posts, too.
love your beautiful snowy pics,
Jennifer
Living in a content kind of way is so juicy !!!!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling that content thing this week also.
Did some watching myself in that last few days - Amelie (an all time fav, HappyThankyouMore Please, and David and I watched the entire first season of House of Lies (Love Don Cheadle!). Kind of hooked on iPad Xfinity app ! ;-)
Love you ! Keep living juicy, Gorgeous One !
Living life never requires an apology -- it requires a hellz yes and more please!! xo
ReplyDeleteHow special to have two full weeks like you just had. Now I rarely watch movies and have seen only Sleepless in Seattle. We did go see Les Miserable the other day, which I liked. I always love to read what you recommend. My son says we need Netflix, but then I wouldn't see my husband or son ever.
ReplyDeleteOut of your list, Hope Springs is the only one we've seen. I find it hard to sit still in movies and if the plot is too slow, I am miserable--which is why I avoid Clint Eastwood movies like the plague. Glad you had some relaxing time with hubby. Love your b&w shot of the woodpecker. :)
ReplyDeletewow, you really did see a lot of movies, but I love movies so I can appreciate your movie-time fun. I have seen some on your list...Salmon Fishing, Hope Springs, we bought a zoo, sleepless in seattle (ofcourse), friends with benefits (fun!) One that you might want to add is "Life of Pi" visually stunning, see it at the theater in 3D, don't wait for it to come on TV.
ReplyDeleteOhhh- I miss watching movies and going to movies- hubby doesn't ever want to anymore... I did see "we bought a zoo" and thought it was good. I have a list of what I want to see- will check out your recommendations :) I've heard Pitch Perfect is really good from several people :)
ReplyDeleteI must admit I don't really understand why people feel obliged to post regularly on their blogs, as if its paid content. Even though I myself feel the same obligation, lol!
ReplyDeleteThis is really timely for me since we just signed up for Net Flix. We are more limited for what is available in Canada but at least now I am starting with a list (topped off with The Kings Speech which - I KNOW - I haven't seen yet). Glad you had some restful time over the holidays.
ReplyDeleteBeth, Thanks for these - my husband and I are always on the lookout for a good movie (sometimes lately we feel that's an oxymoron). We watched Hope Springs a couple weeks ago and thought it was hilarious but also tender. Tommy Lee Jones was great as the curmudgeon husband. Glad you're relaxing and enjoying life, Beth.
ReplyDeleteI love movie overload posts from people who are on the same wavelength. These are all on my video list! And that bird photo at the top? Stunning. And ignoring your blog? Sometimes it happens. It's called life. Savor it! Oh, wait -- you already do!
ReplyDeleteI love all your suggestions and have seen many of them. I watched a cute flick on Netflix this weekend. It's an animated French one called A Cat in Paris. Not suitable for very young children, but fine for 8 and up. And adults ~
ReplyDeleteI love pitch perfect! Haven't seen your other two favorites yet, but keep hearing good things. I love to movie up, but my husband not so much....
ReplyDeleteDon't apologize ( says she who rarely posts )
ReplyDeleteI am just starting to play catch up and gather re movies.. it's fabulous so thank you for the suggestions.
The photos are incredible Beth. I can't thank you enough sometimes for being a consistent gift giver.
The first one especially just made my day. oxo
..Isn't Justin Timberlake just adorable in so many ways? What a great guy. Did you see Trouble with the Curve? Also a great movie...With Justin!
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks at home like that with my husband would be wonderful! We all need a break like that. I saw Pitch Perfect in the theater with girlfriends and thought it was hilarious. Love Family Man, and of course, Sleepless..., but I haven't seen any of the others so thanks for the recommendations!
ReplyDeleteWhat a list of movies! I haven't heard of half of them but will certainly be adding them on my Netflix list. If you like costume dramas, we just watched Amazing Grace and loved it:)
ReplyDeleteoh Beth, I've been feeling the same. No blogging, no visiting blogs...
ReplyDeleteAn awesome way to spend time together! And Love Actually is our all time fave!
ReplyDeleteit's always been a turn off to me when people effusively apologize ( you don't ) i have a friend that says she's so sorry much and now i just groan at her each time, which has been a good practice for both of us ... it's shifted the energy a bit :) and i can't believe how many bloggers apologize for everything drives me nuts !!! opps off on a tangent and i'm not going to apologize :)))
ReplyDeletewe went to see lincoln ~ fantastic and i'm inspired to read doris's book team of rivals, i might even splurge and buy the audio version. my sweety took 3 weeks off and we drove each other crazy but now that he's back to work were happily in love again
thx for the new movie recommendations
I appreciate your honesty, that you truly enjoyed your time and have no apologies. Very very cool.
ReplyDeleteLove your black and white images, too.
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend your time.... When you don't HAVE to do anything is simply the best.
ReplyDeleteWe liked Silver Linings, too. There are so many more I'm wanting to see....
Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteBut I agree with what you're saying. I sometimes feel like I'm living in a static field with my iPhone, iPad, computer, and all the stuff that comes at me.
I had a laid back day today.

We've been watching lots of movies, too. I think January is a good month to relax and movies are fun. I'm glad you had time with your husband to enjoy the time together. xo Jenny
ReplyDeletei want to see silver linings! (loved ruby sparks, too - have you seen safety not guaranteed?) i watched sleepless AND you've got mail, a few weeks ago. sort of a norah day. sigh... i will miss her. (i love family man - the little girl: "promise you won't take me and my brudder to the mudder ship?" and "i understand. you're just getting used to our ways.")
ReplyDeleteso glad you had a cozy time and a movie marathon. sounds like my kind of perfect :)
p.s. LOVE the woodpecker shot. extra really love it.
