some people say i talk too much....

i drive a bit fast. not furiously, but cautiously and quick. if you drive a prius, thank you for trying to make our air quality better, but i hope and pray that while i'm practicing my patience {that's been called "little" more than once} i don't get stuck behind you in traffic or have to wait for you to pull out of your parking spot.
~
i have a green thumb. yep, it's true. i can grow beautiful plants and keep them living for a really long time, as long as they're in my house or on my screened in porch. what's my trick? water.
~
target's been a madhouse lately with all the kids getting ready to go back to school and it's driving me a bit batty. every time i want to run in for just a few things, the store is crawling with overly excited kids and bedraggled parents with faces that scream, "i'd rather stick these new pencils in my eye then continue shopping with these kids of mine"....but the new school supplies, especially the journals and folders {folklore by liz diller} make me giddy and turn me into a 10 year old.
i bought all three designs in both the folders and the journals. i couldn't help myself.
now maybe i can teach myself to journal.
~
i was in michael's today looking for candles and all of a sudden their halloween and fall decorations jumped out and assaulted me. seriously, they did. now granted it's been hot here and autumn sounds really good right about now, but it's still summer and i don't want to see anything pumpkin related in july. oh and DSW has winter boots out on display. gross.

our son is pursuing a career in sound engineering and like a mad man, he has practically turned his condo into a sound studio with its own isolation room. the best part of all of this....he's really good at what he does. he recently found a girl with a beautiful voice and because i'm such a proud mom, you can hear what they produced, just this afternoon, right here.

  1. Why oh why do they have to rush the seasons? Although it might be a good time to find a portable air conditioner at a good price, if you can find one at all. I love every holiday -- in their season. And yes, kids and Target make me crazy. We are so on the same page!

  2. Love your stream of consciousness!! Get a little snippet of that music and post it right up.... We'd love to hear it. I know your are thrilled to see him pursue something he loves!!

  3. I know exactly what you mean. No offense if someone has one here, but I always seem to get stuck behind a PT Cruiser. They are always ALL the way on the left lane, driving at 50mph, on the highway...

  4. I love the back-to-school stationary influx too. It makes my heart tremble with delight (and my purse tremble with fear.)

  5. I love back to school supplies, too. We need to be super rich and just rent out the store for an hour of two. About to click on the link to check out your son's work.

  6. Call me perverse but I find that I am driving slower and slower...and I find that I love shopping when all the kids are out shopping for school supplies...I get giddy about all those school supplies myself:)
...but I do agree with you about those autumn displays already...I hate how stores keep pushing the seasons!

    How exciting for your son!

  7. hahahah...love this post! Last week I was in Joann fabrics and nearly died when all the fall crap was out. Ugh! And I am a fast driver...but I am a good driver...thanks to my time driving in Germany. I wish we had the autobahn here *sigh* And I totally know what you mean about the cute back to school folders and journals...I almost bought one today... :)

  8. I am a fast driver too, and I hate being stuck behind a slow car, and as much as I applaud those who are GREEN, you won't catch me ever in a prius or one of those little tiny cars that are half electric and half gas fueled. I do my part in other ways.
And I love all those journals and folders too.

  9. I enjoyed your observations -- I haven't noticed any fall decorations yet, but I haven't really been looking. I used to drive a Prius and I drove like a bat out of he**!

  10. That's one nice thing about Holland. They don't rush ahead to make a buck. One of their good traits, no nonsense. Sorry you have to suffer so. How I remember the back to school rush. But I'm living in the country with the cows now and they don't rush anywhere. Nice post, get it off your chest! xo Jenny

  11. I walked into JOANN Fabrics at the beginning of July and saw FALL EVERYWHERE! It was an assault! Are ya kidding me? Who wants to buy fake pumpkins and mums at the end of June/July???..... I hate when stores do that.

And I'm surprised Target is already full of back-to-school folks. My kids didn't want to think about school till the week before they had to go back. I don't blame them.

The impatience.. the driving...lol.. the talking too much? Sounds like you're describing ME! Had to laugh...

Congrats and good luck to your son... it's a beautiful thing when they find their way, isn't it?

  14. I so know what you mean after trying to find summer patio stuff anywhere in this city in July ! Target online had nice stuff but I just couldn't wait for it to be delivered so I went with what I found.
Wow ! Jack found an amazing talent to work with ! So great ! Will stay tuned for more !

I think you talk just the right amount. And drive really well. At least to and from the airport. ;-)

Enjoy the gifts of this summer day, Beautiful Bethie ! Love ya !

  15. Love to drive fast. I always said it was the California Girl in me.
Had to laugh at your visits to the store. Isn't it amazing how the stores jump ahead? I have been trying no to see it you. Thankfully the store I shop in the most is into renovation and hasn't brought out much yet. Loved the music, you definitely can be a proud mom.

I'm a fast driver AND a fast walker, and can't stand being behind slow people no matter what form of moving and grooving they're doing. Not a horn honker, but I am somewhat of a tailgater when need be.

Not ready in the least to send my kids back to school, especially our oldest who will be starting her first year of college. Yes, she'll only be 5 minutes away (we live in a university town, and she chose to go here for school. Guess we raised her right after all!), but then I'll be stuck in a house full of Man Talk till she can come home for Girls Day Out on Sundays! Ack! : ) Katie

  17. Totally in love with that song and have posted to FB. Beautiful voice! Your son truly is good at what he does.
I drive fast too. Not crazy fast, just quick, cautious, and I love a good sports car. It's a feeling quite its own - driving. Isn't it?

  25. Some people say you talk too much, thus some people know a lot about you.

But the most interested part I love the most is the sound room.
