so i'm rethinking about a class i signed up for this fall.
it's a painting class with the extraordinary flora bowley and something i've wanted to do for
over a year now. well, not just a painting class, as i've done that before with other instructors....
but this class. with her.
~
i keep hearing my heart reminding me that photography is what i'm passionate about now. not painting.
then she throws some glitter in the air and dances under it with a sneaky smile on her face.
silly heart.
unfortunately my equally silly gut starts wobbling all over the place, grabs my heart's outstretched hands and when i squint just right, it looks like they're doing the tango.
are you still here, or did i bore you to death with the talk of painting?
what about you? have you followed your head or your gut or your heart on something very specific that danced inside you day after day?
these are a few of the tags i made that i was telling you about the other day. these are not my photos on the tags {they are actually pages from anthropologie and toast catalogs} but the words and handwriting are all mine. before i take them to the shop, if anyone's interested in buying them directly from me, send me an email and they're yours.
oh, and why not a few bookmarks, too?
~
for you question mark lovers, i used them in this post just for you. also, i have to admit, i tried pic monkey for some fonts on another project and i like their site. they have a ways to go before they'll ever be the picnik equivalent, but they're getting there.
Oh honey...follow your heart. I know it's good to be logical and there is time for that. But really when it comes to those true creative callings...it's the heart that matters. Listen to that... xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely...
ReplyDeletePierre
i miss picnik and pic monkey is just not the same.
ReplyDeleteWith creativity...if you feel it do it...the results will follow. TRUST YOURSELF. You know that. Great tags! xo Jenny
ReplyDeleteNot bored at all, and something I am sure we can all identify with. My advice would be to follow your heart. Somehow I've always found that it takes us to such wonderful places.
ReplyDeleteyour tags are sweet. i like the red-wing and the corn crib shots. creating is a good thing - no matter the medium. :)
ReplyDeleteFollowed my gut to California....and i think a little bit of heart was thrown in there too! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeletedo you use an iPhone? there's an app called iLabeler .. check it out
ReplyDeleteand I agree, picmonkey is cool but still has some growing to do... did you know some of the techs from picnik now work on/at picmonkey?
I love the tags! And you can do painting AND photography and that's cool, too! It's good to read down your posts and check in! Love the bunnies! I'm having a terrible time getting my posts on the new blogger -- making me crazy! Any tips on spacing?
ReplyDeleteI love those tags! Your penmanship is so pretty. And the words are really something to ponder.
ReplyDeleteLove your hand writing !!!
ReplyDeleteWhy, oh, why in the world, can you not be a photographer who loves to paint her heart wildly too ? You better stay signed up for that class, Kid, or this painter who love photography may come over and dance you right on over there ! Its Flora Bowley !!!!!
Love ya !
Oh, these are cool, Beth.
ReplyDeleteAs for photography, or painting . . . why in heaven't name can't you do both? I've always wanted to paint. And as for classes, have always wanted to take one that Barbara Bordnick offers in NYC but they are incredibly expensive!
ditto Kate: I think painting and photography make nice tango partners!!
ReplyDeleteI am taking a vacation this summer all alone that my heart is dancing about! but part of my heart is tied up in knots about leaving my child for a week :-/
Love your tags and bookmarks!!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there is something in the painting class that would translate into inspiration/useful information for photography????
At first I read the title as Who's Dancing ON You. Goes to show what my life has been like. Then when I could read it clearly, it was fun.
ReplyDeleteoh, i am so envious. i think flora is just magical - would love the opportunity to paint with her. soak it up, beth and unfold with grace to where it leads you, my friend. xo
ReplyDeletePhotography may be your passion - and with good reason .. I love the red winged blackbird shots and the robin's egg just stole my heart. But why exclude painting if you have an interest?
ReplyDeleteLove the bookmarks and tags.... And as for the painting class... Why not?! Sometimes we have more than one path to follow. Sometimes it's a whole maze!
ReplyDeleteLOVE these !! lets trade soon!! xo
ReplyDeleteoh yes, these tags make
ReplyDeletemy heart wiggle faster!
you do have a gift, friend!
-Jennifer
Go for it. Something tells me your art will be crazy good. Me, someday would like to play the piano. You only live once.
ReplyDeletehey! i take a couple of weeks off from blogging and you change everything around here! (it looks good. really good.) as for your passion for photography, it shows... i am sighing over that blue egg photo... and the barn, and the blackbird (or is that an oriole? i'm not much of a birder, but i know i love that photo :)
ReplyDeletevery cool!
ReplyDeletei say, photography, painting, writing, whatever speaks to you, even if it is all at once.
happy mother's day!!
I think that any art class you take would only enhance your photography just as your photography will surly enhance any other form of art you take up.
ReplyDeleteLove that red winged blackbird photo!
... admittedly, I haven't done it often enough.
ReplyDeleteI love picmonkey... hopefully they will add tools as they go.
Wonderful images, so fun and inspirational!
LOVE the tags and bookmarks!
ReplyDeleteBeth. Beth. Floored by the red-winged black bird . I have a special connection to those birds.
ReplyDeletePaint. Create. Make . You said everything on your tags that you need to hear yourself.
xoxoox
Beth...I adore your handwriting.
