we're home
~
after leaving florida just a bit earlier then planned
{my prayers and thoughts to all the families affected by the tornadoes}
we're safely back in wisconsin
have you ever driven seventeen hours straight through from point A to point B.
for some reason we pride ourselves on the ability to do just that.
granted, we stop for gas and potty breaks and this time we even stopped to switch drivers,
but normally my hubby does all the driving {i think he's part truck driver} and we just go.
i have to say though, that driving the last leg, which fell from midnight to 6am,
{the first time we've done that and even took turns}
is brutal and produces zombies that slightly resembled us.
so we beat the storms and arrived home just hours before mother nature gifted us with five inches of heavy, white snow. personally, since i got to spend six weeks in florida, i think she did that just to play the na.na.na.na.boo.boo game with me.
today was over sixty degrees. freaky.
now i'm kind of in a nesting mode.
cleaning, organizing, re-doing and decorating. an early "spring fever" perhaps.
so all of my beachside daydreams are put to rest for now
{i mean i'm still dreaming, just not with my feet in the sand}
and my smile, well that never really changes no matter where i am.

Welcome home gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSix weeks, long enough to put down roots how did you ever get yourself outta the sand ... and back to winter ... brrrrr .. that is one gorgeous smile
ReplyDeleteWelcome home Beth...
ReplyDeleteYour 1st paragraph, sounds like me and hubby. He is a maniac...and we do this, or I should say did this...from La. to Pa. (17-19 hours) so many times I couldn't tell you. He would hit most of the Waffle Houses for coffee in his thermos and just drive...I despise it!
He had open heart surgery last year and I make him stop for the night now...oy! So far it has worked for me, but I know someday he will PUSH it again...reading this, made me feel better somehow...he is not the only one! lol...
Enjoy your homecoming.
What a tease, to have all the white sand then come home to more white, only in a different form.
ReplyDeleteThanking the lord you all are home safe.
glad your home safe ...beautiful smile friend!!
ReplyDeleteI recall the days when I could drive cross country for hours on end and have no problem with it.... now it seems I'm exhausted after just 2 hours behind the wheel and have to stop for a while. You are right... ZOMBIE! That's exactly what it makes a person feel like.
ReplyDeleteLoving the shots, welcome home and keep smiling. :0)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you made it home...beautiful pics, love the bird!
ReplyDeleteOMG- that is my husband to the tee! Why is it a race every time we get in the car for a road trip? I like to stop and explore along the way and he just wants to haul ass. He's a happy camper if we shave 5 minutes off our previous time. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWise decision to beat the weather and I'm impressed that you had a chance to drive part of the journey! Well except for seeing zombies that look just like us!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat infectious smile of yours...it brings back memories of the sunny days in Florida! xoxo
you are so cute. glad you're safely back home. and yes, i've made an 18 hr drive straight thru, as well as one that traveled the same route with slower vehicles (moving van) that took 20 hrs straight thru... ugh!
ReplyDeleteLady you have a generous smile that makes people want to smile right back at you! love it....

ReplyDeleteyou are a doll!
ReplyDeleteokay, movie star!! love the look!
Yes, we've made those kind of drive thru trips ... no, I don't like it, even with him doing most of the driving.
ReplyDeleteI was so into enjoying your beautiful images that the last one made me gasp with pleasure!
Glad you made it home safely....that's a lot of driving! Welcome back to the "real world" of winter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo of you - such a beautiful smile!! Otherwise, my brain just kind of went numb imagining 6 glorious weeks at the beach... (thinking of that 17 hour straight-through drive made it numb, too. We've done that several times, including one to Maryland that I swear took over 30 hours because the kids were little and we had to stop more, but that just doesn't even compute in my brain right now. yikes.)
ReplyDeleteYeeeeeeha!!!!! ;o)
ReplyDeleteWelcome home - your images are so pretty and you are beautiful. Enjoy the crazy remember while you keep dreamin'!
I used to drive 26 hours each way to get home on leave when I was stationed in Arkansas. After almost killing myself I finally decided to just fly home and back and just borrow Dad's car while I was home. Now I'm 40 years older, have had 2 back surgeries and can barely stand the 6 hour trip to get home.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a gorgeous smile it is!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy landings, Sweet One. I hope the spring time vibe keeps a-flowing for you as you transition into your homebase.
Love to you!!!
Love, just absolutely love that last picture, you know the one of you. Good to hear you made it home safely. We use to drive those crazy drives between here and Denver. We don't do that anymore. Early morning is the worst through Wyoming. Crazy weather all over the place for sure.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! I love you in that cowboy hat! Welcome home! xo
ReplyDeleteLove, love love these photos....muted hues and that bird just haunts me! Poetry in pictures! Lori
ReplyDeleteI have done that 10-12 even 14 hr. drive from point a to b and just stopping for gas and potty breaks. But the last time I did it I ended up in the hospital two weeks later with a blood clot in my lung. So now I will either get out during the long drive and walk around more or spend the night at a motel, which I hate. So young people, be very careful of loooong drives.
ReplyDeletebeautiful photo of you beth! welcome home
ReplyDeleteWelcome home Beth! Gald you are back safe and sound...well...at least...safe. : )
ReplyDeleteLove, LOVE, L.O.V.E the last picture....you are gorgeous and look so happy!

Julia

ReplyDelete65 here yesterday, 35 tomorrow... Spring is such a tease...
Ok. How the hell did I miss this post? Maybe because we talk all the time via e-mail. But that wave shot . . . and the cowboy hat and sunglasses shot? Totally awesome!
