i carry randomness with me like a security blanket...

i watched the oscars last night and honestly i was a bit bored.
okay, meryl's speech was amazing. well she's amazing.
but angelina's leg, sticking awkwardly out of the slit in her dress. weird.

the other night, as i was getting ready for bed, i moved my jeans off the bed to put them away and a spider was on them. of course he jumped quickly off my jeans and onto the multicolored comforter, where he was impossible to see. so i hit the living daylights out of the comforter with my bare hands and felt confident that i had killed him. just to be safe, we took the comforter off the bed and shook it to death.
next time god, give me a lizard or something else large enough to see, that i'll know for sure isn't still hanging around waiting to crawl all over my face while i'm sleeping.

tell me you have tried and fallen in love with the
"no-bleed no matter how thin your paper is"
fine point sharpies

since i've been here, i have fallen UP the stairs twice. once with my arms filed with laundry and the second time just walking up the porch stairs into the house.

this is cd. he's one of those people you want to invite for dinner because you know, just from meeting him, that he is easily more interesting then the last ten or fifteen people you've met.

after i took his photos, he shook my hand and said "one love"
i have to admit that i LOVE stuff like that. totally love it.

non-drowsy claritin makes me drowsy...but not until about four in the afternoon,
which is a good time to nap anyhow.

this is NOT the heart shaped piece of sand dollar with wings that i spoke about in my last post.
no unfortunately, that piece is broken, spit out in little pieces and gone.

please consider removing your word verification from your comments area. please.
AND....if you have comment moderation on your comments, you do NOT need the word verification, too.
honestly, and i don't want to sound bitchy here, but it's a bit maddening when you have both. so please, take the time to see how your comments are set up and change what's not necessary. try to go without the word verification for awhile and add it back in if a creeper shows up. the new double word thingy is just so time consuming and i know some bloggers are really struggling trying to decipher the words.
thanks for listening to my little rant here

  1. I love the randomness of this post...and you beating the bejeepers out of the comforter (I'd have done the same AND taken it off the bed like you did...just the thought of hairy legs crawling on my face....erggh). And how nice to see your beautiful smiling face!!!

I thought I had taken the verification off my blog and yet 2 people have told me it's still there...I'm investigating!!!

  2. This post is like the tide coming in, swirling this place then that place, bringing gifts from the deep. And I love the photographs too.

Spiders are messengers of trust& fortune ... but I would not like one in my bed either!

That man, CD, he is an inspiration, even in just the glimpsing of him.

I agree with you about word verification. It makes leaving a comment time-consuming and tedious. Often, it stalls the whole process and you have to keep reloading the page. And these new words are almost impossible to read. I'm glad someone feels the same as I.

  3. Are you totally sure that we are not somehow related??? At work, at lunch today, I actually went on a wonderful soapbox about the joys of my favorite fine point, non- bleed Sharpies! I buy them for people for gifts even. And, Michael took me to ski country for the weekend, in a condo, and we left a day early because 1.) they forgot furniture, and 2.) the dead, big black bug in the corner, by my side of the bed, was GONE IN THE MORNING! UGH!

Ofcourse i don't have near as much traffic as you......hugs! i too love the randomness of this post....deb

  6. Yeah, um, I had a hard time getting past the spider thing! Bleh!

Once I got to the end though, you got me thinking. I hate the new word verification! Does everyone have it? If so, how do I get rid of it? I'll have to seek further.

  7. hmmm...this is the first time i've seen THIS layout in the comments section. cool....another new blogger thingee. i agree about those stupid word verifications. hilary feels the same, too. if i didn't like the person so much, i'd skip the comment and go on, but then i'd feel bad. love all the photos today, as usual. :-)

  12. You must have been reading what's left of my mind! I'm always on the lookout for a really good pen for my field notes diary that I carry in my camera bag. I just asked THE BOSS to pick one of these up the next time she goes to town and she told me to go look in the pen 7 pencil cup on the desk. WOO-HOO, I GOTS ME ONE NOW!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! (Just imagine Gomer Pyle delivering that last line.)

    BTW, I loved this series!

  13. That should read pen & pencil cup. You'll have to forgive me......I'm all giddy about my new pen!

  14. Even the comment layout is different now. I don't think they have it quite right, though because it looks a little weird.
Love your photos here. And that one of you is priceless.

  15. please, tell me at which stores those wondrous things for which I've been looking for some months now.
love your randomness; I have hesitated doing, but now that I enjoyed yours so much, I'll have to give it a try.
Quite a bit of us bloggers are thoroughly fed up with WV. So glad to hear one more speak up!

  18. Beth I was just thinking about the verification thing, since they have gone to two words I feel like I must be blind as I have to do it about five or six times....ahhh. falling up the stairs, I hope you have not hurt yourself. love your photos as always. hugs to you. sorry about the spider. I finally caught the mouse last night, but like you I would rather have a bigger animal that I could see. lol.

  20. You look divinely happy on that beach! And yeah, what was up with that leg?

I'll check -- I know I didn't have verification for a long time -- can't remember if I started turning it on when I was getting spammed a lot. I hate it, though -- especially with the new changes...

  21. Since I got back to blogging, my first post I read of yours had to do with the word verification, and ever since, I've been meaning to ask how you get rid of it, as I've noticed you don't have it. So thanks.
The picture of the interesting guy with the little girl is beautiful....was it spontaneous? How do you always get to the right places at the right time??

And I love the foggy gray of today's photos...looks like a warm mist I could wrapy myself into rather than bundling into 3 layers just to take the dog out for 15 minutes!!

  22. new look on the comment thingy... threw me off :)
    I am a big fan of Angelina but I thought her leg sticking out was a little weird.... with that dress anyhow; if it was a form fitting little number with a thigh high split it would have been okay... but to purposefully stick your let out of a full skirt is just forced no matter how great your legs look;
cd's arms look bizarrly thin in the photo of him holding the beads.... but man, that smile is contagious and engaging! he and that other dude that had the camoflage on in another post must be smile-related :) it is nice to meet people with great smiles that come from the soul...
I usually cuss perfusely when I fall up the stairs; it feels like such a stupid thing to do!
thanks for the randomness and thanks for listening to mine!

  26. I am so drooling over these photos .. awesome stuff .. I am totally hysterically afraid of spiders .. I dont think I could have slept in that bed w/o knowing for sure the spider was dead ... I shudder thinking about it.

  27. you sound so alive ~ i feel fed by your beautiful collection of photos, process, and words. the seagulls eating all together makes me so happy :)))

  28. I like everything you said. From Angie's leg to your word verification rant!
And now i'm going to try that one-legged pose cd is doing with the little girl.

    ReplyDelete
  29. you captured the essence of the joy i feel when i see those pelicans flying, wing-to-wing, across the sky. and in my opinion, a missing-in-action spider just before bedtime is a recipe for insomnia. oh, and i took word verification off a few days ago... we'll see what happens.

p.s. stop falling up those stairs!!!

  30. UMMMMM I would love to just spend an afternoon with cd

i love your ease with taking photo's of complete strangers and I love the ease you put them in. their ease with you is obvious in your shots.

angelina's leg and the need for her leg to have a twitter account is beyond me.

  37. CD does look like he had stories to tell, One Love... I will be humming that tune now for the rest of the day.

Scream on the spider! I will pray that GOD does change over to a lizard or something else.... Goosebumps just thinking about it.
Need some shin protection guards for your legs so you don't get all bruised up.

Love the pics with the bird all in a row all doing the same thing in the waves, one day I hope to be as good of a photographer as you.

  41. Such sweet synchronicity in that last photo.

That word verification thing is awful! So why is it still on my blog? I don't know. I am going to remove it.
