yesterday tim gunn {from project runway and now the revolution} said that crew neck t-shirts on women are one of the most unflattering things a woman could ever wear. he said if a woman is going to wear a
t-shirt {god forbid} in the first place, that at a minimum it needs to be a v-neck.
obviously tim has never lived in wisconsin or any place cold for that matter. tonight it's going to be below zero and tomorrow's high a great big whopping six degrees.
~
so tomorrow i think i'll wear TWO crew neck t-shirts, one right over the other, to stay warm and to cover up the most flattering part of me {according to tim}....my clavicle.
~
i bet he'd have a heart attack seeing my in my uggs
*
Ha! This is very funny. Good thing Tim isn't visiting me any time soon. T-shirts and Uggs here too:-)
ReplyDeleteOn the coldest days, I wear sweat shirts. Ha, who cares what he says. He dresses well-to-do women in LA.
ReplyDeletewisdom according to tim...who knew? (now i do...thank you! and i'll be the one in the crew, too...)
ReplyDeletethese photos are elegant and awe-inspiring...sigh...my thanks.
-xok.
Who IS this Tim Gunn ANYWAY? What a sad commentary on women...to be dependent on what Timmy says...can you just see my blood boiling? Good on you Beth that you dress in a way that suits you...Frickin superficial Tim can cater to the needy, approval, competitive beauty queens types here in CA while real women dress however they please!
ReplyDeleteXXOO
Good on you! Your beauty is all in who you are...and how you show up in the world...NOT in your v neck tees!
Ha Beth, if Tim walked in here he would just pass out. everything is covered here in this darn cold, some people wear long underwear too, that would really get him going. have a good day.
ReplyDeleteHa!! So true!! I too am hiding my most important assets...it is just too darn cold!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
SueAnn
Ha! Funny guy! I'll be wearing a crew neck, a turtle neck and a sweatshirt! If he doesn't like it, let's see him walk around naked fleshed in this subzero windchill nonsense! Ha! Yup. Definitely not from WI.
ReplyDeleteTim has been hanging out with too many manequins... get real... and why do we want to show him any of our good parts? He wouldn't appreciate them anyway!
ReplyDeletePolar fleece is good! It's -20 here this morning.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand his voice anyway! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI learned a long time ago (not from this guy...from a fashion "expert" on a program here in Toronto) that crew necks on women are not flattering and a v is the way to go, especially for an older woman. She was right. I wear a crew neck and I'm cut off (short to start with). A v just makes me look taller and it is more flattering.
ReplyDeleteThat said..I love scarves and layering so I'm sill okay in the cold!!
Just call me a slave to fashion!! xo
He, he, he!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen Tim Gunn in anything but a suit so obviously comfort is not a priority to this man. I still think he's fabulous. And so are you in your crew neck T!
ReplyDeleteHeck, I'm sporting a TURTLEneck!
ReplyDeleteGood thing he's not shallow and cares about what's really important.. ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics, Beth.
I've no idea who this man is, and I don't care what he thinks of t-shirt necklines. It's what's inside the t-shirt that matters, and I have more important things to concern myself with!
ReplyDeleteI don't like to wear crewnecks, only because I feel like they are choking me. I'm just too aware of how close they are around my neck, I know that sounds silly, but it's true! I do wear plenty of tee shirts though. It's gotten cold here too.. drat.
ReplyDeletewell, since i am writing this while wearing my plum-colored gap super-soft T, i will have to agree to disagree with tim. (and it's only 65 degrees here!)
ReplyDeletethe leaf in that second photo almost has a plaid effect. cool.
Laughing! Love, love t-shirts! So what does he know!!! I have known many designers that wear t-shirts all the time. So he is just one designer that doesn't know what he is talking about.
ReplyDeleteI just had a harrowing experience driving through a blizzard. I am wearing red jammie pants with my magenta sweater, left over from work. Tim can Bite Me....if he can find me through the flannel.
ReplyDeleteVermont woman who today wore crew T, ladylike lavender, my daughter's mauve sweater from high school (she is in her thirties and teaches in NYC), a grey sweater vest over that. Black, green, yellow, red flowered silk scarf around my neck. A necklace of beads and crystal (my weather chaser), a gift from my husband of 50 years and made by a Vermont woman who keeps Vermont National Guard F-16's mechanically fit to fly. Oh ... and also my moss green LLBean thrifted cords with LLBean magenta sheepskin lined slippers. A toasty 5 degrees here today, warming to a toasty 16,
ReplyDeleteYour photos and words are extraordinary, Beth :)
sooooo.... my question is this, Tim.... if crews are so out, how come they are still available at fashionable stores..... granted I am not shopping at Gus Mayer or Sax or the like, but still......
ReplyDeleteOk, I see the crew neck thing hit a real cord, because through no fault of their own, most commenters left out saying how cray good these photos are. I mean, are you kidding me with these? I just pulled the mate into my office saying, "hey, check out these pictures." I guess that's what happens when exemplary becomes the norm.
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
Well actually, I don't like crew necks either, v-necks are my choice, but hey, we can wear whatever we want right?
ReplyDeleteLOL! I kind of agree with him on that, but wear whatever makes you warm!! The fashion police can be a bit brutal, can't they? Hope you have a warm and wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteLOL i dont blame you one bit! Warmth is THE most important thing during these winter months. Love the droplet photo's...
ReplyDeleteI will agree that the crew is MY worst look. On this cold as all get-out day, I will opt for the turtle neck, hiding at least one of my chins and warming me as much as I can!
ReplyDeleteha! snort. i've had a turtleneck on all week, i wonder what he thinks of those!!
ReplyDeletei am in love with that first photo...
i had to lol at this! i love, love tim gun. he was here a few years ago for the w project.
