bee yourself.....

hi. i'm beth.
i have a problem. i can't do it all.
~
believe me. i really want to. but i can't. unless i take a break
~
i want to play on pinterest and organize my boards. i want to make a hanging bunting {just like ashely did on her july 1st post}. i want to send out some of my postcards to all of you, with handwritten notes attached. i want to clear off the top of my desk, so i can actually see the beautiful old pine underneath all those papers that are screaming at me. i want to rearrange every room in my house and paint a few walls.
~
i have to edit photos from two recent photo shoots. i have to clear off all the crap on my computer, due to the fact that i am extremely low on storage and one of these days i'm going to sit down at my desk and my computer's going to wag its gnarly little finger at me and say "not a chance you moron. i am full and it's your fault because you have loaded almost 12, 000 photos onto me" and then it will stick its tongue out and shout na na na na boo boo at me. i have to burn cd's and archive all my photos. i have to go grocery shopping, even though i don't want to. {you probably think this is a funny thing to add to my "have to" list, but honestly, i rarely shop and we've been living off of anything from the farmer's market}
did you know you can add fresh basil to EVERYTHING
~
anyhow
by now you've figured out that i'll be a bit quiet the rest of this week. at least at a whispering level, with maybe a few photos, but that's about it. and just maybe when i come back, one of the things above will have actually happened. oh heck, let me shoot for TWO things.
xo

  1. Oh sweetie, enjoy your week! I so hear you about the list of so much, so much, so much that needs to be done! Awwkkk! Why does time fly so fast???? And why is it in such a hurry!

  2. Hey wait... did you see me office and to-do list? You sound like me!

Unfortunately, I use blogging as an excuse to NOT the above-mentioned items because it's so much more fun!

Good luck! I hope you get THREE things done before you even know it!

HA!! I attempted that CD thing a year ago. To heck with that...too much time! Good luck on accomplishing #2! (I know you can do it...Rah! Rah! Rah!) :-)

  4. First off, beautiful photo. I absolutely love it.

Secondly, I can't get enough done, either. I always, ALWAYS feel overwhelmed when I have a job to process. It's part of the reason I don't want to be a 'real' photographer where I'd be making a living from it. Overwhelmed, I tell you.

I'd have to make a list. Don't put too much on it to begin with, and have many small things so that when you accomplish them, you'll have lots of crossing out. Anyway, works for me.

Don't you have external storage? I think we all get a little freaked about storage.

  5. a tip that helps me is to create a monthly image folder. when july hits, burn june. if august hits and i haven't burned june yet? i'm not allowed to add any more photos.

    sweet shot!

p.s. also, your link is kaput. :o(

  8. Personally, I think No. 1 should be send out those postcards!!
You should get an external hard drive...
    Best to you

Ya... those photos have a way of sneaking up on and using all of your hard drive, don't they. They're kind of naughty that way. I TOTALLY understand.

  15. ha, me too! sometimes, you just have to take care of life!

  16. I, too, must burn my photos to CD's - yuck. I just can't make myself do it. It takes FOREVER to burn raw files. Hope you accomplish lots on your to-do list, Beth. Meanwhile, I plan to buy fresh basil tomorrow - I've been using it on everything, too - esp. fresh heirloom tomatoes.

  17. sometimes I put "brush your teeth" on the list just so I'll have something to cross off! good luck....

  18. Once again Beth you are speaking my language. This is exactly how I am feeling...overwhelmed, a bit swamped and wanting to do it all. Sometimes a break is very needed...you'll get done what you can...those things that require your immediate attention and then the things you want to "play" with. I think I might have to join you!!! xo

  19. i read this in a bed lit by hanging fairy lights, inspired by you know who, and you know what? those fairy lights only light up a little bit of the room and the light fades away by the foot of my bed and i can't see all that stuff that needs to be done. thank you. :)

now you go kiss a little computer ass and we'll see you when you're back.

    xoxo

  20. YOU ARE A TRIP and crack me up! I know it is a bit of a crisis, but the fact you can verbalize your frustrations makes a huge difference and you make everyone feel normal for having the same dilemmas of too much to do and so little time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hope you can squeeze in some time just for you... cuz wow - that's a TO DO list!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. This entire post could SO have been written by me...if I were a better writer:)

I thought when I retired I would have so much time to do everything I wanted...but I still get vvery little done...Such is my life!

  23. Yep, we're with you. I have Passport, an external harddrive. I put all June in one folder and send it to Passport. Then I'm clear. Love the bee. My butterflies just arrived on my vlinder bush. They are a priority. Choose yours. xxoo Jenny

  24. Look at the pollen buildup on that guy!!! Looks like he CAN do it all! I'm jealous as I am a lot like you. So much I want to do, so little time.

  25. Lovely bee photo.

I now have an external harddrive that is set up to automatically backup my photos everyday. I learned my lesson when I lost 3 yrs. of photos last fall!

    Have a great day.

I am in the same position as you! That's why I'm behind on my blog readings. Take that time to "get things done" - it's good for the soul. We'll be here!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ha ha! Wow, our lists kinda look
almost the same! On mine though
we'd have to add, "I have to go
    to recycling soon otherwise I'd
    have people questioning whether
or not I was a hoarder. AND I
have to pull weeds even though
it's going to push over 90˚ out."
    Yay. ;D

  29. hope you can add "sitting in a deck chair and reading a good book" to that list!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh Beth, you don't have to explain it to me. That's some of the reasons I've not been around. I'll look forward to what you can share, when you can share it...You are always so refreshing...&...always worth the wait!___=^..^=___Kittie

  31. So many of those things are on my list too . . . . I've been ill for the past two weeks so have really fallen behind and if I don't make it out today to do a grocery shop we'll have nothing to eat!

    Love the bee pic.

  32. Time is shooting by...
Stopping and just BEing seems to be the key to some semblance of sanity.
    Enjoy your being, wise one.
    Love you and basil too.

  33. Good luck! Last night I finally cleaned up my piles of papers and can see my desk top again. I need to clean up the computer too. Why can't we just play all the time and not have to worry about going to the market or cleaning up computers? Why, oh why! I will enjoy a few pictures in the mean time.

  34. 3 things:
    1. take one thing at a time
    2. take one day at a time
    3. External hard drive!

  35. you sound like me. Hope you get your stuff done. I have 2 external hard drives. 1 contains all of my photos and the other one is portable and contains the photos that I use a lot.

  36. Ahh, Pinterest. My new obsession. Oh how I wish I'd thought of that idea. I could spend days looking at boards :-)

Isn't it amazing what a little paint can do-- It freshens everything up and makes you happy! Have fun painting.... and editing photos.

    Enjoy July! xoxo jj

  37. I understand completely. My stress level the last two weeks has been over the top.

I'm sort of getting my desk organized... but I could write a brand new blog about this crazy woman who tells the dogs her problems... and it isn't working!

Take care... you're so bright and cheerful. You made me smile.

  38. Beth when you said you have to and you need to do these things I could feel your pain. I hope you get a chance to put your feet up and to maybe even jump once your two tasks are done. lol. hugs dear friend. we will all be here, enjoy your time away from the puter....twelve thousand pictures...wow.

  43. Wow, I know exactly what you mean about being busy in general and clearing photos off your hard drive in particular. (I've been fighting that battle with my computer for 6 months now!) Sadly, all this busy-ness is the reason I vanished from the blogverse for so long... Not sure even now that I can be here consistently, but I want to try. I have missed it so much, and your blog in particular. Good luck with your to do list! =)

  44. Oh, I forgot to mention, that photo is *amazing*! I love bees. =)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh..I can so relate to this. I think I might need to take a week to 'do it all' as well. Hope it's been productive!

  46. Wonderful photo! I'll add my two cents worth also...external hard drive! Much easier than burning CDs. Of course I tell others to get an external hard drive and I tell myself to get one, but...hmmm, it IS raining today, I can't garden, maybe I should get in my car and find one before I lose all my photos (again!!) ha!
