boobs...

i probably got your attention with that word, didn't i.
well, speaking of boobs, mine were squashed like a bug this morning. so, just like a public service announcement, have you had your yearly mammogram. i hope you have or at least have it scheduled.
i'd hate to think i'm the only one having all this fun.

this past weekend was a big movie weekend for us and i'm not really sure why. it's not like it was the dead of winter, where we were snowed in and tired of playing tiddlywinks. it was actually nice outside. if your definition of nice includes mosquitos, everyday after dusk.
~
first we watched "just go with it" {adam sandler/jennifer aniston} which was just okay. it had some funny parts. i will brag a bit here where i mention that brooklyn decker is in it and she's married to my cousin, andy roddick, so for us, that made it worth watching.
~
then we went to the theatre and watched "bridesmaids" which was funny, but only in a way women can understand. the hubby hated it and i don't blame him. it really is a chic flick and just today i read on a blog, from a chic, that she also hated it. so obviously it's not for everyone. if you see it, or if you have seen it, the funniest part for me, was knowing that melissa mcCarthy {from mike and molly} who plays dougie's sister, is in real life, married to the guy who plays the air marshall on the plane. i'm not sure if any of their scenes would have made me laugh as much as i did, if i hadn't known that.

late sunday morning while doing a little laundry, i watched "reservation road" which was good and awful and sad and oh, i don't know. i hated the ending so much. it leaves you hanging.
~
and
last but not least, saturday night we watched "love and other drugs" {anne hatheway/jake gyllenhal} which WE LOVED and was better than all the other movies put together. now granted, i loved "autumn in new york" {cherlize theron/richard gere} and there are a few similarities, but who cares. it was really good. and i laughed and i cried. and a movie that makes me cry, is a good movie in my book.
~

the photo above and below, well
i tried something new that is kind of hard unless you have a great scene photo
{with hopefully people in it}
my newest blogging friend, who happens to live right here in madison, turned me onto it after she posted this photo on her blog. believe me, i will keep practicing this and taking more scene photos until i get at least get ONE great one. seriously, try it. you'll be addicted.

  5. speaking of your title, I haven't recently. maybe I need to, but I hate that pain!
I'm dim, I guess. I'm not sure what "the technique" is.

  6. Like the full tilt pictures. Congratulations on the mammogram. I never miss mine in the fall. That is a lot of movies, I don't think I have seen that many in a year.

  7. Okay, you REALLY DID have a movie weekend! Now about the photo, I don't get it...maybe I've drank too much vino, LOL! Awaiting details Missy!

  8. Guilty of not having done any checking for the last three years, so taking an appointment very soon.
I love the faux tilt effect! How do you do it?

I like that last one a lot!

Talking about watching things. How about "The Bachelorette"?? Bentley...what a pr*ck and I can't believe they put that comment on the show "she's the ugly duckling compared to Emily". I think the producers have gotten him to come back for the next show so he'll shoot it straight with "whatever her name is" so she won't screw up the rest of the show by hoping they'll hook up later. (She needs to know what a jerk he is! Her love meter is WAY OFF!). I can't believe I get sucked into that show!

  11. You always do the most fun things! And learn the coolest techniques! I'm going to have to look through lots of posts to see what I missed. Hope the squishing shows a big fat nothing!

  12. I LOVE your photos, Beth! This is so similar to an action that the Coffee Shop offers, called teeny tiny world. I loved your friend's photo, too.

I did a couple of photos with it here:

Hey, I saw Bridesmaids and it was well, it was funny. I liked The Hangover much better, though. And Love & Other Drugs -- yes. Yes! Must see Autumn in NY now. And I've got to agree with you on the others you saw. I believe we have similar tastes ~

  13. Husband & I both laughed at Bridesmaids...LOVED "Love and Other Drugs", and yes, my friend and I went together in October to get the annual Boob Squish...then went out to lunch as a reward! ♥ I guess I now need to see Autumn in NY! (Had any good ice cream lately? I feel a skip-dinner-to-go-instead-to Coldstone Creamery-without-as-much-calorie-guilt coming on!) ~kath

  15. My boobs have been properly squashed very recently, but thanks for the reminder! And thanks for the movie tips - I haven't seen any of those! We've been stuck on old, old (mostly bad) ones on Netflix lately. Now, will you give a tutorial on the scene photo?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I can't wait to try this technique on a landscape photo - thanks for sharing. Oh, and I've been squashed for this year already, thanks for asking.

  17. What an unusual effect ... and fun!

  18. alright! nice work!! although, i don't think that last shot is madison, and you mentioned you had no scenery shots. so, i think more needs to be said about your weekend trip to acapulco...
    ;o)

i can't even come up with the last movie i saw at a theatre. probably one at the film fest in early april. sad.

  20. I'm sorry, but you got me at "Andy Roddick." I have a picture of the two of us posted on my blog. You can find his name, I think, in my list of topics on the right side. How cool that you're related!

  21. Okay, I made it easy for you. I had a good time with this one.

  24. the second and third photos are my very favorite!!! some of the movies you mentioned I love - J. Aniston and A. Sandler are great for a good laugh and any movie that has been filmed in NY in the autumn is just a great movie (lol) ... lately I watched (after 3.5 years can you believe it??) The Mistress of Spices on you tube ... and I'm so in love with this movie :-) sending love your way Beth!

  25. It is so much more fun watching a movie at home, don't you think? We can cuddle on the couch, take a snack break and not miss any part of the movie. We watch instant movies on Netflix nearly every day.

So glad you had such a great time with all the movies. The pictures show how much fun you had too.

  26. Love the tilt shift dealy-o. Very cool. I was squashed years ago. Must be me because although not comfortable in the least, I didn't think it was as bad as everyone said. Then again, I went in comparing it to childbirth and it was NOTHING close to the pain of a no drugs childbirth!

  27. I was so hoping you'd say you got your boobies squished, makes my heart sing every time I know someone isn't being neglectful :) And now I have to go check out your photo magic- very cool effect and I want to know all about it! I also loved love and other drugs, I haven't seen any of the other movies you mentioned, and now I'm glad that I picked from the best of what is out there!

  28. I love your people pics.
    And your movie review.
And your hilarious way of looking at life - and boobs.
    And you.

  29. I love the photos!! The second one looks like it's a miniature beach scene that was set up in a shadow box!! Love it!!!! : )

  30. Great photographs! I'm going to have to try tilt shift one of these days.

I saw Bridesmaids with my daughter and although there were some very funny parts, it was difficult to watch. Kinda gross. :/ Kristen Wiig was hysterical!

  31. Thanks for the PSA on the boobs...it is VITALLY important to do this -- my breast cancer was found through a mammogram 6 years ago. They do save lives.

And the scene photography is amazing...going to check how you do this!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Okay i went thru all your comments to make sure no one else said this to you but i think Autumn in New York was played by Richard Gere and Winona Ryder????? I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure.....not that its important. LOL! Daughter and i loved Something Borrowed came out just before Bridesmaids. None of those other movies strike my interest but we saw Super 8 this past weekend and it was AWESOME!!!

  33. I have been addicted to Instagram lately and they have a tilt-shift option you can add to your photos...lots of fun to play with...love your trials!

We saw Pirates of the Carribean Part 3 last weekend and it was jolly good fun...not as good as the first but are they ever when they do a series?

  34. I stumbled upon your blog via Chronicles of a Country Girl. Your photography is gorgeous and I have enjoyed reading your posts. I am a self-learner with my editing skills and if I master photoshop, then anyone can do it! It's a work in progress!

    Look forward to reading more.
