chickens for sale...

i don't know what the farmer's markets are like where you live, but here in madison once spring arrives, they are everywhere and often. on saturdays the hubby and i have our choice of three markets to visit. wherever we go, we always fill our bag with an interesting mixture of goodies. guess who has fresh cilantro growing in her kitchen.
guess who doesn't garden or grow anything with much luck.

on wednesday there's another market i go to that is within walking distance of anthropologie
{that's what i call a win win}

and
then on thursdays, there is one within walking distance of our house. at that market, there is a vendor that makes and sells the most incredible pumpkin bars, smothered in velvety cream cheese frosting. maybe the best i have ever had. at the other end of his booth, he sells scrumptious and squeaking fresh cheese curds. if you don't know what a cheese curd is, buy a plane ticket and come visit me.
i promise you won't be disappointed.

i kind of wanted to bring this chicken home with me. or at least take it to my sister, who already has a chicken coop full of the best laying feathered friends anyone could ask for
and
say
"surprise"

    Love the tattooed arm. I would never do that but I really enjoy observing other people's tattoos and what they deem to be as beautiful body artwork. :-)

  10. Well thank you so much for taking us along to the farmer's market. I wish we had bigger better ones in my neck of the woods. If they all had an "ink lady" like you have at yours I bet I could even convince my Dear Hubby to tag along more often. lol ~ LOVE your sense of humor. You should of bought the chicken!

  12. I love farmers' markets too.. and your photos depict the action and offering perfectly. I especially love your mountain of green onions. Great shot. Cheese curds.. YUM! There's a cheese factory on the way to/from the cottage where we usually pick up a pack or two of them to munch on the way. They do indeed squeak! And much less so on day two.

  20. Pumpkin bars can count as a vegetable - so can carrot bread. That chicken needs some TLC!

  25. Oh, markets are so much fun. Love them.
    I've never tried cheese curds..always wondered what they taste like..I imagine them to taste not like cheese at all...a mild flavour with a hint of salt. Am I even close?

    when I post photos it takes so much courage.. esp when i see ones like this. someday I'll learn , not to ever be as amazing as you, but to learn for it's own sake.
