don't they know i can count...

i see the cold winds outside staring at me. daring me to be brave enough to walk out my front door. but i'm not playing that game today. instead i'm staying in where the warm air from the furnace dries out my skin
and
sends dirty dog smells through the air reminding me she needs a spa appointment.
~
i'm behind
i have closets that still need to be emptied
and
drawers
that are scary enough to be the lead roles in an upcoming horror film
begging me to visit. and i might. or i might just sit and finish the book i'm reading that had me crying in the back of the airplane sunday night.
~
i didn't want to sit in the 14th row flying home. only because it's the last row next to the only bathroom and the seats don't recline.
technically it's the 13th row. do they really think we can't count. that we won't realize it's the 13th row and that someone is just playing the superstitious game with us. little do they know that in our house 13 is a lucky number. na na na na boo boo.
~
yeah. my love for flying went out the window a long long time ago.
i know i know. if you've seen one sunset you've seen them all.
somehow with sunsets though that lingo doesn't work for me. just like snowflakes i believe that everyday when the sun goes down
it's in a different costume than the day before
~
now granted
as much fun as it was to watch my hubby catch snowflakes on his tongue a few posts back
i'd give that up in a heartbeat
to be front and center
for this kind of onstage performance night after night
~
want the seat next to me

  1. Ha ha! I think we need to learn to teleport ourselves...

Sorry you're having a cold blowy day! Trying to send some spring your way...

  2. Yes... sunsets, never a two alike, but it took me a long time to really see and appreciate that. The sun is breaking through the gloom and clouds... soon I think, I'll even be able to feel it's warmth on my face again.

  3. I totally disagree, with your "if you've seen one..." Nope, each is different and each should be captured by a camera. At least that's MY mission statement.
    Beautiful sunset!

    with you on this one.

  5. Unique phrase "in a different costume than the day before" love your slant of view! And, yes, I do want the seat right next to you! Keep a-clickin' that camera. :)

  6. I'd definitely would want the seat next to you to see such a wonderful sunset (will never get enough of them) and have a little chat with you. It's really better to stay out of the wind if possible - we're having a very strong wind and my eyes are hurting from a really short walk!

  7. I'm with you -- once upon a time, I'd kill for a window seat. Give me the aisle any day! Welcome home!

  8. Pretty spectacular -- but I imagine the seat next to you is reserved for your soul mate hubby.

  9. I love the first image.. and of course the sunset. You're right about it being a different show each night. There are no two alike and there's no tiring of its beauty.

  10. Lovely post! And btw, 13 is an unlucky number in our house, in fact, its called 10 plus 3 here. So I am grateful for the buildings that skip 10 plus 3 when numbering floors and airlines as well, not that I ever fly! lol
    Beautiful sunset :)

  12. of course.

i always take that row going home as it is likely to give me a row by myself - which i will take for a recline any day

  13. I'll take the seat right next to you, as long as it is on the beach; and not an airplane. I don't fly and for my fear of flying, probably never will. Your post taught me something new today, thank you. I had no idea they tried to fool passengers by calling the 13th row, the 14th. Interesting tidbit. I think that is one spectacular photo! Did you take it on a vacation somewhere? I'd love to be on that beach right about now. I am SO over winter this year. Nice to meet you.

  15. Yes please. When staying down there I have always marveled at the incredible sunsets - night after night. The sun a big golden ball melting into the emerald sea -

  16. I'm with you on the sunsets (and sunrises) - my favourite part of nature and also favourite colour of sky to paint. Also with you on the love of flying - mine turned into a weird fear a few years ago (maybe getting older makes us realise our mortality and suddenly every bump of turbulence makes my heart jump into my mouth!)
PS. I love your way with words.

  18. I feel the very same way about flying. There are many wonderful places I would LOVE to visit...but as soon as I remember that I have to fly there... out the window that wish goes. (It got worse when Flight 3407 crashed 2 February's ago...in my neighborhood. We remember almost every day.) But just the traveling is miserable I think. Airports...waiting...germs on flight...ugh! I want to be the "I Dream of Jeanie" genie who wiggles her nose and nods her head and wah-la! We're there. Ireland, I want to see you first. Thanks for the sunset, Beth. ~K

  19. You're right...no two sunsets
    ever dress alike.
    And I never get bored
    with them.
Always up for the signing off.
    Cheers,
    Jennifer

  21. I hate that row, too! I flew home in it (although it was row 45, I think, the plane was Enormous) all the way home from England twice. No sleep for me!

  22. Oh my, that is one gorgeous sunset. i am not a huge fan of the water, but right about now, i would love to be there. and 13 is one of my lucky numbers, too!

  27. Very true about sunsets - I never get tired of them, or of sunrises, if I catch them. What a beautiful capture!

  29. The sunsets could never possibly be boring. While they may sometimes seem the same, they don't last long enough anyway. I am content to watch replays like a beloved movie.

  30. My love for flying took a hike a while ago too. It used to be so exciting, but now that excitement has been replaced by a subtle nagging fear. But take off is still fun!

  31. I'm with you. Every one is like seeing it for the first time for me.

And yes. I absolutely want the seat next to you. Sunsets sing to my very soul.
