i don't like photos of myself.
there.
it's that simple. i said it.
so
i do pretty much anything to stay on "my side" of the camera
the side i feel safe on. the side where i feel like me. the side that truly makes me smile.
the side that's my classroom where i still learn something new everyday.
i opened my mail yesterday
from deb
and
the sideways photo of me below
jumped onto my screen
~
i didn't like it. not really. well maybe a tiny bit since it was me.
and since i don't hate me. just photos of me. i took a deep breath.
~
deb said
"here, go ahead and play. do that magic that you do"
so i did
~
i played and i played and i played
like a child with a new box of crayons
and
guess what
~
i pretty much love the photos above. i do. i really do.
~
thank you deb for seeing the me i don't often see
it's your thoughts and your spirit
and your creativity and your flare
and your heart and your sparkle
and your passion and your loves
and your courage that make up
the incredible mix of who you are...
why oh why
do we let others tell us
what our mix should be?!

ReplyDeleteYou are adorable. And you are wearing my shirt ; )
ReplyDeleteBeth you have SUCH a beautiful smile.....you should revel in photographs of yourself....kudos to deb for making you take a good look!!
ReplyDeleteI love what you did to the photo! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the photos...the textures, the subtle softening...and you have an absolutely beautiful smile! In fact, all of you is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful on the outside and in. You bring us joy every day - whether it is from the flash of your smile (which we don't often get to see) or the flash of your camera. I'm happy to enjoy both sides of you!
ReplyDeleteit's such a gorgeous picture and you look happy and i love, love, love. love her quote, also, which is spot on.

ReplyDeleteBut these are quite divine, really!

I'm the same way. Yours turned out wonderful. I'm encouraged.
ReplyDeletewow. Going to start calling you the photo magician! I loved the original image too, its just a good picture of you. But oh, you made it into a work of art!
ReplyDeleteWow.
awwwww-SOME!!! You are already so beautiful, but playing around with yourself can make you FEEL even more fabulous!!~snicker~ Now I am going to go play with you....but I LOVE your version!!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful photos of a beautiful soul.
ReplyDeleteReally nice edits. Care to share some of the actions or textures you used?
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! I'm glad that you now have such beautiful photos of yourself!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here in wintry CT, another snow day...and I came across your blog. The title caught my eye. I thought it was perfect! You have a nice website, I like the commentary along with the photos, great idea! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHey..if i looked like you i would be in front of the camera all the time.:) I have been catching up on your blog and find you have been having some fun time. I think it is wonderful that you got to meet with your blogger friends. i may be meeting with a couple of mine this Spring. Enjoy the day. Dee
ReplyDeleteThey are all lovely pictures of you. Deb is a very special friend to take a picture that shows who you are so clearly and then include the quote too. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLucky indeed. GREAT AWESOME CRAZY COOL photo of you, girl!
ReplyDeletelovely - but i knew that without even seeing you. beautiful edits too
ReplyDeleteEven with the same pose, you can work magic, Beth. My family complains that since I take the photos there are never any of me - I guess, like you, I am more satisfied behind the camera.
ReplyDeleteYou are so beautiful! I think you are VERY photogenic (is that the word??). You are a natural beauty. Like a DOVE girl! (Thank you for your kind comments on my blog and for my birthday, Beth! Being 30-20 isn't so bad...)
ReplyDeleteyou are adorable. what a smile! your big heart just shines right through.
ReplyDeleteI love all the edits as well as the original. I think you look marvelous, dahling.
ReplyDeleteI hate photos of myself too...that being said this photo is gorgeous! I love the icy pale beauty you brought out with the processing. Beautiful photo and beautiful processing!
ReplyDeleteYou take image and make personality ... what a gift.
ReplyDeleteI don't like my photo taken either but the sad thing is that when I'm gone there won't be many (if any) photos of me for my children to look back on. So I really need to get over it. Your photo is beautiful and I love how you processed it.

Nourishing and rich,
ReplyDeletethis post,
in every way.
Thank you, beautiful you!

We women should be ashamed of ourselves for not liking our own photo. What's to say we have to look like a magazine cover model? I'd much rather see who my fellow bloggers truly are and see their beauty come shining through than see a magazine model any old day.
ReplyDeleteYou are gorgeous! You really are.
Di
you are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and fabulous quote!!

My friend, we often hate photos of ourselves. But let me say that both the original photo (not to mention the original Beth) is lovely. The modifications you did also lovely -- and made it all your own. Look at that face and smile -- don't you like her? Don't you think she's pretty and the warmth jumps off the photo and grabs your heart? I do.
ReplyDeleteFantastic!!! Love the photo and the quote.
ReplyDeleteCheers, jj
You really truly glow with happiness.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful, honest and real, smile you have and what you did with the great photo Deb took is fabulous. i would be in love too.
ReplyDeletehey beautiful!... that's all, just that.
