a few weeks back
she wouldn't let me come to her first swim meet
~
"i'm kind of nervous, aunt beth"
she said
~
i promised her then
that i would come to her last home meet
~
"you're going to take my picture, right?"
she said
~
i took over 100 pictures
~
she smiled while she did the breaststroke
and
the butterfly
~
i cheered her on like she was one of my own

no wonder she didn't want you there!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think it is so good when a young person is able to verbalize their nervousness. She must be very comfortable around you to be able to say how she is feeling. And by honoring her wishes you end up with 100 great pictures of your niece and she is reminded why she trusts you. Win-win.
ReplyDeletehow quickly one gets past their earlier fears to delight in the picture taking moment later. glad she's doing so well in her swim meets, :)
ReplyDeletehave a great day.
love the photo and words to your post below. tea brewed to perfection is all one could ever ask.
How sweet. And a new niche- sports photography-lol! There's always a photographer or two at Molly's games and they are in hot demand. BTW-I set up a blog for my DH for the August Break. He is the Light Capturer one (his pic is with the thumbnails but I don't think his blog is listed...http://imagesfromalightcapturer.blogspot.com) Have a great day Beth!

ReplyDeleteThe presence and support of a loved one is often the best encouragement.
ReplyDeleteLoving this, loving that she overcame her nervousness with a smile.

ReplyDeletesweet photo beth
ReplyDeleteAunt Beth . . . . She IS one of your own. When you love you are as one.
ReplyDeleteYou touched me by how you captured her smile in your memory. It's wonderful to support her and take all those pictures. More priceless as time passes. Thank you for sharing.
I have missed you, my friend. Sorry for my absence. I have missed much, I see.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for moments like these as my little niece grows. Right now, at her age, she forgets who I am each time we Skype each other. sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love the story you tell, just with this image alone. But your words make me wistful.
