when I'm outside
and
the winter day is too bright
I put my sunglasses on
but
when
the winter day is too bright
on my computer screen
I add a texture to it
and
the brightness fades
~~
the
old
"vintage
postcard looking"
photo
that is born
from
a
winter day
"that makes me squint"
photo
makes me feel
warm
and
fuzzy
and
in wisconsin
in
the winter
warm and fuzzy
is a
good thing

ReplyDeleteLove the effect. Snow can be blinding when the sun is shining. I love that you feel warm and fuzzy.
ReplyDeleteWow, very beautiful. Go Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteLove love love....both photos are simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWarm and fuzzy IS a very good thing in that kind of weather. Burrrr.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
xo
Beautiful photos...and I love how you write. Always so descriptive. Makes me look forward to coming back for more.
ReplyDeleteGeez Louise! I'm amazed at the difference that makes. The real photo is nice...but the effects make the other so intriguing....much like it makes me want to walk down the road.
ReplyDeleteyou are in such a winter wonderland. beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo!! Love the vintage effect!
ReplyDeleteHugs
SueAnn
Gorgeous! What photo program do you use to turn it into a vintage looking post card. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteoh man, is that cool!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!!
ReplyDeletesooooooooooooo beautiful - love that texture too
ReplyDeleteI love them both - so beautiful in their own ways. Wow - Wisconsin looks amazing through your lens.
ReplyDeleteyou make snow look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteshite, I keep trying to hang onto my purist (straight out o'the camera) 'tude because, well, because that's all I got, is a camera and nothing else so I HAVE to pretend like I'm a purist but GOD D**N I love all this digital magic.
ReplyDeletesome day. some day, it's ALL gonna be mine!
You do wave a seriously magical digital wand, Baby!
Great photos, and I love how you've captured the pristine beauty of winter. I've only recently discovered the fun of photo editing. I just got an iPhone, and have been taking pics for my blog, then jazzing them up a bit after I download them. Thanks for more inspiration here!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love the name of your blog, and was so intrigued I had to visit. Found you on "The Fifty Factor." :-)
really beautiful!!! I love what we can do with Photoshop!!!
ReplyDeletei always love your pictures!
ReplyDeleteNice pics with nice write up! :)
ReplyDeleteI liked the second pic more. :)
Yes, undeniably, your photos evoke warmth and beauty... even to an old battle-scarred winter weary vet such as myself :)
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think of all the times I've come inside in the middle of winter BLIND!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot! I love the texture and vintage feel. Stay warm up there!
ReplyDeleteThat's the kind of winter I love. You've got a good eye, Beth.
ReplyDeleteWow -- wonderful manipulation; the texture really does add an old-world feel!
ReplyDeletevery, very cool! it feels like an old oil painting. love it!
ReplyDeleteI am such a california girl. aka: whimp! I get cold just looking at pictures like that.
ReplyDeletebut I love your editing!!!
:)
♥ both!!
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful! And I saw you featured on Mark's blog too! He was happy to make it onto the roll call (hee, hee). And of course I was happy when I saw mine too! It doesn't take much, huh? By the way, I'm SO sorry I made you sad with my blog post. Truly didn't mean it. Sometimes I just write and forget people are actually gonna read it. But thanks for the needed hug!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the texturized photo. It is gorgeous and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy too.
ReplyDeletewarm and fuzzy ... receiving some of that here
ReplyDeleteincredible. i want to be walking there, all bundled up to the cold but enjoying the hush of the snow and the crackling of the ice
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!...I just received PSE8 for Christmas and have been trying to play around with textures...it is NOT easy!..still I'm having fun:)...what texture did you use here...I'll take any hints on how to do it anywhere near as beautifully as you...
ReplyDeleteartistic ...winter at its best here!
ReplyDeleteI love both the photos Beth, and yes sometimes the blinding bright can be too much...absolutely brilliant both of them. Have a great weekend my friend.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a difference between the two! In the city, the same snow pretty quickly gets tired and gray-looking. (Including the yellow splashes all along the edges of the sidewalks.) Perhaps I need to get out of town to reconnect to the beauty of winter.
ReplyDeleteYes, beautiful....
ReplyDeleteI need warm and fuzzy in Illinois too.
annie
Oh that's beautiful- BOTH of them! We got photoshop for Christmas- haven't played with it yet but am aching to do so. I love the idea of textures! Enjoy your weekend~
ReplyDeleteI love the moodiness of that top picture almost as much as I love the pristine quality of the bottom one! EXCELLENT!
ReplyDeletevisiting from soul aperature; amazing amazing photos; that goat thing is some kind of crazy!

Hi Beth - Visiting from unravelling. I've enjoyed your poetry and your photography so much.
ReplyDeleteParticularly the deer in the field - it looks like a beautiful Christmas card.
i looooove the vintage look you created here.
ReplyDeleteI have PSE somewhere, I just haven't installed it. I really must do that--you've inspired me!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the perspective and would love to stroll down that path.
ReplyDeleteThat is what is so fabulous about photography, isn't it?
We manage to find beauty even in the most blah time of year.
What a beautiful effect. I love it! But the original is just as beautiful. El Nino is making sure we don't see snow this year, so I'm glad I can see it through your eyes...and I don't even have to put my sunglasses on.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, the editing of your photos is always so amazing!!
ReplyDeletewow. both photos are gorgeous, but i love the effect of the texture.
