sorry
I haven't been here
playing
or
sharing in my
home away from home
but
I've been busy
surprising and shopping and eating and laughing and remembering
~~
my older sister from maine has been here
having flown in as a surprise for my little sister
who just turned
41
~~
there was cake and confetti and streamers and horn blowing and dancing
well
not really
~~
just cake
but
it was a really really good cake
~thanks to mom~
~~
so
today I am buried under the piles of laundry
that didn't get done
and
the bills that didn't get paid
and
the overall
everything
that got put on hold
while I was playing
but
that's okay
~~
because
we'll be talking about this week of love and surprises for years to come
and
all that laundry and those bills
well
they'll all be forgotten in a day
*
the laundry will always be around and the bills come every month...savoring the moment is WAY more important. Glad you had a great visit!
ReplyDeletep.s. I always wanted Sisters :)
Making memories is something that needs to be grabbed on to when the moment comes. Laundry and dishes? Phooey. They'll still be there when the memory making is over, and the taking care of those chores are made way more enjoyable having something so pleasant to think about as they're being done. It sounds like you had a marvelous time! And the photo is sweet, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have your sister around! Sounds like you had a great time...the laundry can always wait...
ReplyDeleteMuch more memorable than what went into the washing machine or how many loads or whether the dishes were done by hand or by machine.
ReplyDeletethe moments are now ... glad you enjoyed them
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way...have tons of laundry, but i will try and find time to enjoy today!
ReplyDeleteYep! Fun with sisters is the best. Family before chores. : )
ReplyDeleteNice to hear such a wonderful sisters story. And nice to see you back.
ReplyDeletewhat life's all about!
ReplyDeleteSo great to have sisters to spend time with. I love it. I am glad your back too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome fun... where are the pics of the sisters????
you know me - yay for sisters!!!
ReplyDeleteglad you all had a wonderful time.
so happy to hear of this amazing surprise...love the image to go with the "digging out" your very last sentence sums life up!
ReplyDeleteplay is so good for the soul and so much more important.
ReplyDeleteLove this image - love it! And love the story, and I bet I would've loved the cake too.
ReplyDelete:) Debi
And playing is so much more important! Good for you.
ReplyDeleteHow come no dancing ? No horns ? You sisters need to step out of the box a little and learn from me and my two. We always dance - preferably to the Beatles and we do a mean horn blowing now and then too ! ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's to living out loud - the laundry can wait !
Love to you !
aren't we lucky to have sisters!?
ReplyDelete(and realize that more and more as i get older :) )
Love that picture......awesome.
ReplyDeletelaundry can wait.
ReplyDeletebut you were missed.
sounds like a great times with family. fun to be had always out-weighs the laundry and bills in my book.
ReplyDeletesounds perfect. I have been needing one of those days lately.
ReplyDeletesister~love is the best, isn't it, Beth? Now you've given me an ache to see mine sooner...
ReplyDeletePhooey on all that fell behind. You are right, in the years to come, you will only remember the laughter and the love.
Soak it up, friend...
That is so awesome! I'm so glad you got to spend some wonderful quality time with family! And CAKE! Yum!
ReplyDeleteOh, btw, you're tagged. I hope you'll play, but I will completely understand if you don't. I just hope my little linkup sends you new readers. Everyone loves those!
ReplyDelete...with the recent loss of my sister and the past loss of my mother, this post really hit home...it may sound glib or trite but it truely isn't...laundry and bills are not what memories and ties are made of...everyone who not only knows this but lives by it is wise indeed...you are fortunate to be so "buried under":)
ReplyDeleteyou're right to leave the nitty gritty's and spend time with PEOPLE. especially those you love.
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful Beth, nothing like the memories I am sure you made and shared, and all else as you said will be forgotten. Loved the photo too my friend.
ReplyDeletehey beth
ReplyDeletei gave you a kreative blogger award on my post today. you can pass it on to 7 others if you would like to. you just copy the award and then choose seven other people and write several unknown facts about yourself.

Laundry and bills are never ending and always available to tackle. Friends and loved ones should be savored when the moments present themselves. Well played dear one!!

Sounds like a perfect time- doesn't get much better than family celebrations...whereas laundry will always be there; one of life's constants.
ReplyDeletelovely story Beth. Hope you have lots and lots of more fun (sorry and laundry goes with that too).
ReplyDeletePriorities perfectly in order :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having fun. Sorry you aren't sleeping though, boohoo.
This is such a beautiful photo. The kidlets' faces are so intense.
ReplyDeleteOh Beth, what a wonderful reason to put off bill paying and the like! What fun to have your sister visit and to do so many delightful things while she was with you!
