"oh lord"
"did we ever get dumped on last night"
~~
and
it's still coming down
and
are useless under these circumstances

"fine"

"mother nature you win"
is that what you wanted to hear

should I thank you for our fabulous november
or
flip you off for what you did to us last night

all I know is that right now the only people liking you are the kids
since they're all home today
playing

but
if the grumbling from all the adults could be heard by you
it would be deafening

I'm just saying

this photo is from last year out at our cottage
and
I know the deer are there today
looking just like this
except today
they're eating out of the bird feeders
since we haven't given them their bucket of corn yet

i'm jealous. all we have is wind. at least you can play in the snow. no one says, yes! there is big wind today! i'll go ______________. i'd rather have snow. and that's my pitty party for today.
ReplyDeleteShe is hitting here as we speak...watching it coming down, I started a conversation with my hubby man about isn't it time to start looking for a new job, one where he is used more to his potential, one where he feels like he is listened too, and most of all one in a climate where we don't have to spend 6 monthsof every single year fighting against that Mother Nature chick ? (JP Morgan Chase has a big office in Tampa, FLA that is looking so very good right about now !!!)...
ReplyDeleteIn spite of a kind of pmsy mood, I am working really hard to see the grace in things today... like you did when you took that gorgeous picture...grace ? It is Wednesday and David is working from home, we have fresh pumpkin and colon blow muffins baking and I have the whole day to play in my studio since it is too ugly out to go xmas shopping...now that is some grace !
Big Love to you, beautiful Beth. We will meet at the beach asap !
We have the wind and bitter cold, high of -26 with wind chill... but the snow missed us entirely!! I'm still staying home today especially since the kids ARE in school here, but I am turning my light box on and dreaming of sunshine :)
ReplyDeleteWe are getting blasted here in Northwest Wisconsin too. Wind gusts are now around 35-40 mph.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to build my confidence this morning and step outside to take a few photos of the blizzard....I'm still just thinking about it as I'm sitting here drinking my morning coffee!!!!!!
I'm so glad I don't have to go to work today.
SNEAUX!!!
ReplyDelete(woot!)(sorry, but the mere sight of it makes me giddy ... it's a dirty job, delighting in sneaux, but somebody's gotta do it!)
oh wow, to be caught by the snow... "i'm so so envious", says she, while she's melting in the chair at the computer
ReplyDeleteDrive safe and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteWe are getting a slushy mess of a first snow.
ReplyDeleteNot really a beautiful moment to capture.
I wish you were here with me Beth...you would love to be taking pictures and you'd forget all about the "ugliness" of the storm. The kids are outside playing...Liv is wearing her swim goggles to keep the snow out of her eyes and looks hilarious. The pine trees are GORGEOUS and the men are working hard. As for me, I am taking pictures, drinking coffee with peppermint cocoa mixed in, and I am baking "Hearty Breakfast Cookies"....I know they'll all be hungry when they come in. Wish you were here!!
ReplyDeleteWe're happy dancing in MA because of the snow day. Supposed to change over to rain, but it doesn't look like that's happening. The deer are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAh the joy of living next to Lake Michigan...only about an inch of slushy stuff!
ReplyDeletei am so envious!
ReplyDeleteI just love the photo! He's licking his chops; must be some good corn.
ReplyDeleteOh Beth I'm so very jealous about you having snow. Grrrrr. So send it over to us pleeeease. I'm not a grown up at all I'm still the kids who loves the magic snow brings along. So bring it on Mother Nature, here's were you should go, leave Beth alone...
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!!! This is so awesome! I am jealous....so so jealous...but in that I am happy for you anyway kind of way. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh, that dear photo is beautiful. It is cold enough here in the San Francisco area this morning, I kind of expect I could see deer munching on rose bushes outside! Actually, there are still a few deer nearby but, gradually, the house building is pushing them away from Pacifica. I see them on the golf course, occasionally, when I drive by.
ReplyDeleteWow, great pictures. I found your site today and I was drawn by the name, I love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, I love the photo from last year. I can here you though my friend. shite. lol
ReplyDeleteI went through this storm yesterday. A total blizzard! We had snow, rain and thunder and lightening! Amazing and scary too! And yes all the kids were delighted and the parents were cursing. Love the photo...the only thing wrong with it is it shows the awful SNOW!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteOur freeways are ice rinks right now!
I am home wrapping presents! Wish I had some eggnog!
Hugs
SueAnn
Sending you much sympathy ;-) The photograph is gorgeous!!! You are so very talented!!! You must be in MUCH demand as a photographer!!! ~Janine XO
ReplyDeleteSNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW...we get it once in a blue moon :) I want some for a day or two at the most.
ReplyDeletestay as warm as you can I won't even tell you what the temperature is in South Carolina...you might not speak to me ever again.
It's been really cold here too, and snowed on the mountain behind my house the other night. It's still a distance away, but a sight to see.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the cutest deer pictures I've ever seen. I like that you captured the one deer's tongue. So cute.
We just have very cold, but no snow. A few snow days are always fun because it forces us to slow down and play. I hope you have time to play today.
ReplyDeleteThe deer look like they liked the corn and posed just for you.
sweet little deer. oh deer me, i bet they would love some corn now.
ReplyDeletei'm not jealous of your snow - i don't like snow very much - except to look at while i'm drinking a nice hot buttered rum or the like. today, the sun is shining and the sky is a glorious shade of blue. it will get cold and i will whine about it being in the 50s during the day. i bet you would trade me.
Love it!!! Sorry... - I'm not used to snow!
ReplyDeletewell honestly i would love some snow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a winter wonderland! Can I come visit?
ReplyDeleteWhat a storm! I am envious, too! It's the type of day where you just have to surrender to the power of nature and get cozy!
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing this beautiful photo..happy family!
Pretty pretty though, isn't it? We didn't get what was forecasted and I'm NOT complaining- although a snow day would be nice about now...
ReplyDeletesuch an elegant picture...it says so much. stay warm throughout this cold storm.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, even if you aren't loving it right now!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that he's licking his lips!
ReplyDeleteI think you need to make the deer fingerless gloves. It looks really cold.
ReplyDeletebooo! I want snow! I want to be dumped on!! We got poured on... NO snow, ONLY rain... Lots of it through today's morning travel! Enjoy the white puffy stuff that I'm dreaming of :)
ReplyDeleteBut you have to admit its beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFound my way here via "The Fifty Factor". Beautiful photo and great post. Will be back!
ReplyDeleteOh you make me jealous. It never snows here and I would kill for it!
ReplyDeleteWell, we can both be mad at Mother Nature together...for opposite reasons. hhmmmpphhh.
ReplyDeleteHey neighbor! This is gorgeous! The deer I mean. Well, you know what I mean. Hello Winter
