would you....

fields of light

when the new television season began
we started watching
"flash forward"
on thursday nights
and
we're hooked
~~
~the premise of the movie~
every living soul here on earth
loses consciousness at the same time
for approximately 137 seconds
~
after waking up
it's confirmed
that they have all had visions
of what they are doing
6 months into the future
on april 29 and 30
2010
~
one guy sees himself being shot
another girl sees herself being drowned
one women sees herself with another man besides her husband
and
the women engaged to the man who sees himself getting shot
sees herself getting married
~
it might sound confusing
but
it's intriguing and intelligent and compelling
and
brings up the question you probably already figured I was going to ask you
~
but
before I do
just so you know
we have discussed this in our house and we're on two different sides
~
if given the chance
I would take it and want to see my life 6 months from now
my hubby
says he wouldn't take the opportunity
that he'd rather just wait and be surprised
~~
so now I ask you
"if you could see what would be happening to you or what you would be doing
6 months into the future, would you want to know?"

  1. I most likely would like to see so long as I remember that seeing it has most likely changed what will be has been altered by the seeing to what would could be...

Hell, I don't even snoop about when I know there are presents in the house for me. I've never done that. So, maybe I wouldn't want to look. I may be with divine Hubby on this one.

  2. I've been watching that show online! I love it and can't wait to see what happens...

I'm just not sure that I would want to see. If I knew beforehand that it would be something good then maybe, but I'd probably be too afraid that I wouldn't see anything at all.

  3. Very interesting! But no, I'd not want to know either...I'd rather be surprised what will happen in even 6 months ahead time. One day at a time, that's me :o)

  4. THAT is a tough decision. Part of me wants to see, the other part is afraid. It might be comforting to see and yet, if I am part of a tv show I imagine it wouldn't be boring! No, I don't think so. That's my final answer.

  5. Hubby's on my team, this time -- I love the unveiling, the surprise, the unfolding ...

  6. i would not want to see what was going to happen six months from now. do the people in the show change what they do/how they act based on it? i think i would...so i'd rather just cruise along.

  7. I don't think I'd want to know. This past year has been so awful for me - the loss of a job of 21 years, thanks to $80 million in cuts to the Dept of Public Health, physical infirmities, etc....nope, I'd better just wait and see what more is to come!

  8. me and my guy have been watching this show too! you're right, it is very good!

and. hmmmm. i think that i would like to wait and be surprised, too. haha. not that i wouldn't like to know, i think i would, but i think knowing would make me think about it too much and enjoy the "now" less! hmmm. or something like that.

great question beth! and that's a lovely photo. :)

  9. Oh Beth, I would not want to know, sometime I think if a seed is planted we lean in that direction, I would just rather keep doing than to be afraid of my own future.I am with hubby on this one.

  10. wow, what a moral puzzle - as much as i think i'd want to know - in the end, i don't think i'd look as i wouldn't want to alter things by knowing.

  11. Interesting question. I think yes I would want to see the future and have the capability to change it if so desired.

  12. I am definitely a "live for today" kind of person - I have learned recently that this is the best way for me to live. I think if I knew the future, I would worry about it, look for patterns that were leading to it, basically just get obsessed with it in general. Living in this moment and being totally present here is a goal I have set for myself. So no go for the peep show for me, baby !
Very cool question though, Thinker Girl !
    Love ya !

  13. Nope. Don't wanna know. I am the type of person that would just worry and freak out. I have to live only in the moment or else I completely lose my mind.

  14. I think a very wise gentleman once said to live one day at a time ... that's about all I can handle anyway.

  15. no, because in the knowing i might miss something wonderful along the way

  16. I definitely would want to know. I like living life as it comes but having a hint of what to prepare for would be awesome.

  17. I am that person who has to know what the surprise is. I can't stand not knowing. So, I'll say I'd love to have this opportunity afforded me. Btw, I love Flash Forward. My husband and I have been watching it too. Also, love your pic today. Have a great day/ weekend.

  18. My family and I are also hooked on this show! It's great!

Would I want to know? I don't think so, my life has always revolved upon being upside down, and never knowing what was coming or what to expect - nothing or an out and out explosion. I act and react on instinct, it is quite honed by now, and I don't think I'd know how to merely sit and wait for what I already knew was coming... probably doesn't make sense, but the answer (in short, heehee) is no.

    :-)

    (((hugs))),
    love,
    me

  19. Hello, this show has intrigued me as well. I haven't been able to watch all of them consecutively but I am watching...

To answer your question... I think I would agree with you. Given the chance to do something that I have never been able to do before and may never be able to do again I would take that chance and go for it just because... of course I would have pages and pages full of questions before I agree but I would want to see.
I would like to know: if I don't like what I see can I change it? If I like what I see what do I do not to mess it up? And the list could go on forever. Thanks for thought prevoking posts, I enjoy them!

  21. Too bad we don't have the show (jet) but I'll can figure out what it's about by you telling me. And since I've been able to look into others lives (death or still living) with readings (and notting goes to far into the future) I think I'm privileged by being able to 'do' all this already. So as curious as I am I'll think I'll just let it be (for now ;-)

But always love to talk about stuff like this Beth.

  23. I think since we have the ability to 'write' the future - I would say "no". If you saw the future - you would work yourself towards it and it would become a 'self-fulfiling prophesy' - or you would be working so hard not to have it happen, you would be missing all the 'good stuff' along the way! Fun question Beth!

  25. I would want to know becuase If I saw something bad, maybe I could alter the outcome without causing upset in the whole universe. It's not like you would be seeing your whole life right? It's just a moment in time so yeah, I think it would be really cool to see.

  26. That sounds like a cool show...I'll have to look it up.

As for me...I think I would like to see. I think ;)

  27. No, I wouldn't want to know. But, I can tell you what it is. I'll be celebrating Jeffrey's birthday and trying to let him know how wonderful I think he is.
