right in front of me

Sometimes I have a need to take pictures.
With winter still hugging me tighter than I want to be hugged and the sneaux still too deep to walk in, I have no choice but to get creative inside.
This is the pen holder on my desk.
I see it hundreds of times during the day.
And for some reason today, with a need to take photos, this is what caught my eye.
And it's been right here in front of me the whole time.
What beautiful thing has been in front of you that you just now noticed ?

  1. I just discovered your blog from Swirly Girl's. How delightful!

The thing that is always right in front of me but I just noticed today is my bedroom's west wall. I must have left my blinds open last night, and I awoke this morning to the most beautiful sunrise peeking through and casting lovely pink stripes on my lavender walls. It was so beautiful I wanted to paint it, only I can't paint. So I shall leave my blinds open, I think, and enjoy my shadow painting every morning.

  2. so many, so many things:
the cowlick on my son's hair, the swirl pattern of the carpet in my living room, the way my hand looks against the pillow when I wake first thing.
thank-you for your words, for this reminder. to slow, to see.

  3. I love pen containers -- they're always so colorful (and always have far too many because I just can't stop getting fun pens and markers and pencils!). Three cheers to saluting 'the obvious' that is often not really seen!

  4. HA! I look at pens and turn into buttuh (not butter, "buttah"). The thing I noticed this morning was my left wrist, where there's an interesting scar from having a cyst removed, but mainly I thought, 'How delicate a wrist you have, my dear!' and that really surprised me. I can't take a photo cuz my MuthaCam is too heavy to hold one-handedly ...

**I love reading the comments you leave, as they make me feel like we're sitting in my kitchen, having a cup of tea, discussing life and wondering where all the time has gone ...beth
