food for thought......

what....is this wrong ? what do you use your paper plates for... food ?? I obviously use mine to mix my paints on !
here's page C in my art journal !

a little bit of a close up.

and another !

and this is what my family lives with....me, my mess and paints... having taken over part of the kitchen in order to do what I love to do.

so why do I work in here and not in my stuido on this project ??
because painters need water and a sink.
Do I have a bathroom {with a sink} attached to my studio ? I do.
hmmm...I'm going to have to keep working on a good answer here.
okay, honestly...I don't like to cook. But I love my kitchen and being in the heart of the home.
There, does that work ?

  1. Ha, Beth! I think you are right. I will have to break out the paints. Not my favorite medium to use in collage, because I hate the mess and waiting for drying time and if I am interrupted, there are all of my materials sitting out to tempt a very active and devious 3 yr. old. But, I HAVE to admit, paint will definitely ADD something to my compositions. Darn YOU!

Ugh! And then I will have to MOVE my work space into the kitchen to be closer to WATER!!!!! (Kidding! heehee- there is a bathroom off my studio space and I balance art on the edge of the sink just fine when I need to.... good thing walnut ink doesn't stain plastic since I spray it in there. :)

  2. I should have also added, "Love your pages." :) Are the blobby dots made from stamping with painted bubble wrap?

You are messing with my "clean" little world! #!@#$% But you can't really be free in your art unless some paint hits the wall or floor, eh? *sigh* (resignation)

  3. Okay, one more thing (and then I will STOP cluttering up your post with comments! lol)

Your paper plates are great art pieces in themselves! Ever thought of doing an art installation of your plate pallettes on a wall in your house somewhere?

  4. Thanks for passing by the other day and leavign a comment on my blog. When I first started getting into creating I also used the kitchen. So I understand where you are coming from. We then had the opportunity to fix our basement and my hubby was nice enough to make a room for me for all my art supplies. Do you think I use it. No, I am actually now on two tables in the family room where I can be with the family and by the TV. I understand you completely. Thanks again for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

  9. Lovely.
And I know what you mean about the kitchen. It is one of my favorite places to write. The hearth, the place where we make something out of nothing and are fed.
